Is it rare for a woman to add 5.5 inches after her period?

Personally it was generally rule for me of only adding 2 inches after my first period.

Though a family friend's daughter apparently had her period when she was 14 years and 7 months. She was her mother's exact height of 5'4 at the time. She was even one inch shorter than me. Now after seeing her recently years later (she's now 22), has grown to 5'9.5

Her shoes size went from 7 to 10. The very first time I got introduced to her, she was just 5ft at age 12.

Her parents are 5'4 and 6'3. Is she a rare case for a woman? She claimed her final growth was during her college freshman year at age 19, adding 1.5 inch. That's quite late. She went from 5ft to 5'4 and then from 5'4 to 5'9.5

That is interesting, I have read of other women growing taller later. I just think that stuff happens due to the genes they got from their family.

Could her father's tall genes have influence that growth? If he were an average height dude, she probably would've stayed at 5'4.

Having a growth spurt after you start puberty isn't unheard of; though 5.5" does sound abnormal for women. Though I am not a pediatrician; so what do I know? 🤷

From what I know just recently, her parents did take her to a pediatrician when she was 12 and only 5ft; the shortest female in the family.
It was discovered that her growth development was like a 9-10 year-old girl and her growth plates were open. The doctor calculated her adult height between 5'6 - 5'9. He guessed right in the end. So apparently it looks like she had a delayed growth spurt.
So basically she was never short. She had the tall genes but was just far from her adult height at that time.

Late puberty I guess. Generally many girls are done growing at ages 14-15.

You do know puberty doesn’t technically stop until 30, right? When your brain finishes developing?
