Is it bad to regularly use round up?

My mom owns a house she rents out. The old renters trashed the place so we are fixing it up. There are a lot of black berry bushes in the backyard so my mom had me chop them all down with a weed wacker, then she had me spray all the roots with round up. She said that we are gonna do that every time we go to work on the house which is every Saturday. Im worried because I dont want to fuck up the environment

Honestly, using Roundup regularly isn’t great for the environment. The main chemical in it, glyphosate, doesn’t just kill the blackberry roots it can harm the soil, beneficial insects, earthworms, and even runoff into waterways where it affects fish and other wildlife. It basically wipes out anything it touches, not just the plants you’re targeting, which means it damages the natural balance of the area.

Another thing people don’t realize is who actually owns Roundup now. Monsanto originally made it, but the company was bought by Bayer the same corporation that produces a huge amount of pharmaceuticals. So the same company selling us weed killer is also selling us medicine. A lot of people see that as a problem, because chemicals like this destroy natural plants and herbs that have been used for generations for healing, while companies make more money selling medical treatments instead.

Whether that’s intentional or not, the result is the same: we lose natural resources, the environment pays the price, and big corporations profit. That’s why I’m really wary of using Roundup over and over. There are safer alternatives that don’t damage the soil or the ecosystem long-term.
