Yes, when I was young I was a fat kid. When I was in 9th grade I joined a gym in the next town so nobody there knew me. There was a group of older guys that were in their 20s that took the time to show me the correct way to exercise and when I started making gains they encouraged me to continue. They also gave me advice on other stuff like school and girls. I used to call these guys the big brother I never had, I have mentored many young people who worked in my department. Many went on the get college degrees and moved on the bigger and better things. Some still keep in touch with me.
And for your emotional support, what helps me is writing a diary and I do that since I'm a teen and not daily but everytime something is bothering me and that helps me a lot and when I have a thought of "oh as a kid this thing was hard for me" i do talk to myself in my head and comfort the child in me. I recommend you the book "The child in you" by Stefanie Stahl it is a German book by a German author but there is an English translation
Yes, cause I'm more experienced now as compared to before. If I could go in the past and help my younger self then I wouldn't. Cause those hard times have given me the experience I have today.
