I don't like being in between my parents' marriage but they talk or text about each other whenever they're mad at each other. I try to stay neutral but sometimes it's a bit much. I'm single and think some of the stuff i do, i wouldn't do if I were married.
Although mom has step siblings, she is the oldest and only child of my grandma. My dad is the 2nd youngest out of 6 and the youngest son in general.
My dad is traditional and a little misogynistic. Everyone should be ashamed if they don't cater to him while he's sick or come downstairs to spend time with him, but a lot of the time, he will make us look at pictures or give us lectures. I understand some reasons behind it, but that's not what im interested in and I don't want to do that during my free time.
Him being disabled also limits walking and standing activities too. That's his excuse as he claims, "having periods doesn't mean you stop doing stuff and you get to seclude yourself or catch an attitude" as in making dinner cleaning up the house, or catering to your husband should be kept up because his pain is clinically tested as "worse". He tells mom he wants to eat breakfast before 11am and not to spend all day outside "shopping ". He has his doubts because 1 time she "went shopping" and talked to her ex in the store.
Then when she came home from a long time, she only had 2 bags... However my mom does stuff while he's on edge, like serving him breakfast at 10:30am or when he says he's fasting, she'll make breakfast at 8am or while she's gone all day, she'd text him that she's on the way home but forgot to go to one store and arrive with little bags or she'll brings one of us, kids along and come home from the store before 1pm. I feel like mom shouldn't be expected to do certain things, but as a wife, she should consider her husband and my dad shouldn't be mad that she's not on his schedule.

You ever see how older generations talk about how," nowadays. Kids these days get married and divorced so much and that was never a thing back in the day," how," back in the day, you stayed in the marriage and worked things out"
I've thought about that and I've come to the conclusion that just because they didn't get divorced it doesn't mean they're happy with eachother in that marriage. It would appear your parents marriage is a prime example of that. I had to re read it to make sure they weren't divorced because it sounded like they were. It sounds to me they're sick of eachother. I think your dad is a little bit on the bullshit about expecting food at a certain time and how women shouldn't be able to feel horrible while on their period. I do understand why he gets mad when your mom is out all day shopping talking to her ex and bringing home very little. Like to me that's a red flag like wuh u doing out all day getting nothing 🧐. Now, am I saying she's cheating? No. But you see how it could look.
As I said i don't think they're compatible anymore. But just staying together because they're use to living together. It's good that you don't think marriages should be like that because what marriage SHOULD be is two people being with eachother happy abd having eachothers backs. It doesn't seem to be the case for them anymore.
