Has anyone digitized their family photos?

I'm in the process of digitizing years of family print photos, taken years ago with a camera on film. I am scanning some of them myself (using my printer scanner and computer) and am having a company scan the majority of them. The end result will be a memory stick containing all the family photos, organized into folders, that I will give to each member of my immediate family.

This has been a multi-year project to collect all the photos, organize them, physically, into logical groups, and then start the digitizing process. A rough estimate is that I have around 3000 photos to process.

Has anyone digitized their family photos?

I left a whole bunch of photos and keepsakes in my sister’s possession and asked her to do just that. I even told her that i would pay for it as long as she did the footwork. I don’t think she has invested any time in it though.

That sounds pretty cool. Not sure if this counts as digitalizing but i also been planning of drawing pictures of me and my girlfriend, scanning them and put them in a digital art book, and i’d make a physical book of it as well

I've tried but some don't come out right. (The ones on that porous photo paper from the 70s that would turn super orange? Yeah... what a special treat that was to try to preserve, lol.)

I used google lens (or something similar) to digitalise a few.

Yes. My first camera was a Coolpix P1 for Christmas when I was 10 so all the pics I took were alread digital, but my parents had tons of photos that I have digitized in order to preserve them.

I have thousands of family photographs going back 40 years. I also have a digitizer. But so far I have been too lazy to use it.
