My wife was a photographer when we met. She also became a Photoshop expert.
So, for many years, starting in the late '90s or early 2000s, we made our own cards with the two of us and our cat (s) in complex, whimsical situations on the outside. I would write a short poem for the inside. And we would have them professionally printed.
We did that for at least 15 years. Our friends and family looked forward to them and lots of people said they saved them.
One older lady with whom we became close friends asked my wife to make similar cards for her and her family. She paid big bucks to have those cards created every year for many years. The process was time consuming.
We did once when I was like 5 or 6. Me and my 4 older sisters were all dolled up in little Christmas dresses, looking all cute and adorable and standing in front of our old Belgian work horse who was hooked up to a sleigh and it looked all Norman Rockwell and Christmassy and stuff and everyone who got one hated them like people do who get family portrait Christmas cards but they had to hang them up out of obligation so everyone kind of silently resented us all for the rest of the year and were secretly quite happy that we never did it again.
I have never done those Christmas photo cards. Never.

I used to tale a photo of my kids at Christmas and have about 50 copies made and just tuck them into the Christmas cards we buy from a handicapped kids camp. We did this for maybe 15 years. My friend;s mother had every single one of them on her refrigerator.
Back in the 90s, everyone sent out a family photo Christmas card. Now, very few cars are sent. I send emails and texts to my friends and relatives, wishing them a Merry Christmas.
not something we do down here...
No, I sent out Santa Claus, as a wrestler holding the championship belt
Oh no but have had them in the past. They're not so bad and are not as wasteful and are more thoughtful generally
Hell No, I send cards with other families photos on it. It really freaks out my friends.
🤣🤣🤣
No, and actually I don't like those kinds of cards.
