My dad and mum usually try to problem solve hard times rather than give me emotional words of comfort. I guess my dad figures i can work things out because "I'm a big boy now" my mum is a little less like this and more about solving the root cause that the effect of it. Though they still show some sympathy when the situation calls for like with problems around depression, but schizophrenia and anxiety usually are misunderstood among them because i think they carry the bias that schizophrenia means your sort of crazy (not dangerous in their minds) and anxiety is seen as excessive, chaotic and unorderly unless i do something that matches the stress of both which they then both sort of acknowledge and open up a little bit.

They aren't bad parents by any means but they are focused more on troubleshooting problems than being emotionally invested and deep (when there is something they can't really change they don't reflect in that way but instead sort of try to joke or criticise it - think of governments, politicians, healthcare.

My siblings not so much, my littlest sister is friendly to me but my slightly younger siblings avoid being as invested when i had some serious mental health issues and i was overmedicated they treated me pretty badly, dismissed me, were rude but i think they were scared of the stigma it carried and didn't want to upset the chained up me so they became defensive. my siblings are really more about short term fun and distraction but they don't really see me in that light like my parents do. I theorise my brother may have been a bit jealous at one point which lead to resentful behaviour on his part, egging people up on me when i was emotionally vulnerable and unable to defend myself.

I never like to ask people for help.. they never been there when I needed them as a kid so I usually figure out how to use people to get by.. My ex has always been dependable and still is..
