I don't know if it’s an accomplishment as woman my age are already married buying a house. My brothers wife’s family would not see this as something good to celebrate. As they all are rich and stuck up bought homes married way before 28. And I got bad luck never had a boyfriend or husband. I been stuck living at my parents senior apt in a far city away from my job.

And I can’t live my life. I can’t do my hobbies as they live so far, don’t have my own room, no privacy, can’t even meet boys as I like to go out at night and my mom don’t let me go out at night and I have to tell boys I can’t go out my mom will get mad at me.

There’s nothing to do in this far city middle of nowhere. I desire decorate my own apt clean my own apt. Finally start my own life. As it felt for past 1 year I have had no life just sleeping and driving 2-3 hours home daily.

I currently went to live with family again. There are pros & cons to it. But I also just missed living on my own and making my home the way I would like it be my home. I can’t wait to do that again. But I also don’t mind staying to help take care of my dad. It’s all about choices and being okay with it!

Buying a home is a milestone of the social norms, but what does that truly means though? Many people do NOT realized buying a home = bigger responsibilities and goodbye money unless you can make good investments from it or capable to maintain it til you retired. Of course, there are the pros to it with having more financial control over it and what you want to do with the house. I actually can not imagine myself buying a home unless I know I’m ready to settled down somewhere, in a serious relationship or married, or I found one of my dream homes I fell in love with.

In your situation yes , you are 28 and shouldn’t be being controlled by your Mom any more , you are an adult that can make your own decisions on what you want to do , if your Mom doesn’t like your decision then she will just have to deal with it or no longer be a part of your life. Do not let your Mom control you that way whatsoever, I know you love and care and respect your Mom but your Mom is way out of live by controlling you that way , so they best thing for you to do is to go get your own place and no longer listen to your mom’s orders. She will eventually realize you are an adult and no longer her little baby girl , so put your foot down to her and tell her to stop trying to control you

But quit comparing yourself to other people, find the heart of yourself and start becoming the person you want to become, you're the only one that can do that in order for you to get all the things that you want. You have to make a choice, no matter what we do in life. We have to make choices and we follow through with those choices. We do not put negative things in our head because that brings that choice back down to negative and you're right in the same boat that you're in right now so make a choice of being positive and stay positive, do not let anything bring you back to the negative.

A studio apartment sounds like an improvement, especially with your commute.

But there are also other solutions to your lack of dating/social life. Assuming that you have weekends off, you can use that time to find groups to mingle with, make friends, and find love. Some decent options for finding those groups (even in a small town) are Facebook groups and the website/app Meetup. Hiking clubs, social clubs, political activism groups, and all sorts of options are out there.

If you're christian, I say start with a church, as you're more likely to find someone who shares your values there.

The apartment sounds like a good improvement, but why fix a problem with nails and screws when duct tape works just as well?

If this is what you need to do to start your life as an adult, then do it. It sounds like it's about time. Have no idea why your mom isn't OK with you going out as long as you don't come home at 3 am and wake her up, or welcome your dating young men who are respectful.

Yes, getting out of parents is always priority #1. I left for college when I was 18 and never looked back. Whether in a dorm with roommates or apartment with just one. I was also never going to move back at college, I was going to start fresh and live alone elsewhere and hadn’t regretted that decision.

That's a huge accomplishment to do and you should be very proud of yourself. Just remember to keep budgeting things and don't try to live beyond your financial means.

And make sure you never have to say you wished you'd prepared for something, be ready for your car tire to go flat, to have banks sending bullshit debt collector calls, to have a lawyer if your car gets crashed, to know a locksmith if someone breaks in so you can replace your door and keys the same day, be ready. A house is not a real investment unless you rent it out for income. People have been sold the idea that buying a home is a good idea , your best investment. Homes are a liability until they are paid off. Then you build equity and can borrow against it. You also never really own a home as long as you must pay property taxes. I like lots of land more than houses. Plus there are times you can't sell homes without taking a loss.
