Should I rent this place even though I won’t be living there the first month?

I have been looking for a place for a little while, all of the places I’ve liked have been sold and I just found one I love, but the thing is I won’t be able to move in for a month so I’d have to pay for a month (without even living there.) Is it a dumb idea to just rent the place?

Currently where I am now I barely have expenses so I can afford it, I’m just wondering if I’m making a dumb decision and if I should just wait for something closer to when I actually can move in.

If you want the place, it's not dumb. Otherwise you court it being taken before you get to move in.
This is a pretty common thing for horses in stables, that even if you don't move the horse right away, you pay for the space because its still someone's business and they'll fill the stable/house if you don't.

i guess if you can afford to do so and really like it and don't think you can find another place go for it.

perhaps you can ask the landlord if you can start your lease the following month OR mention you won't move in for a month so can he cut you a break on the first months rent
