Why does my guy friend think I’m the most beautiful girl in the world when I’m overweight?

Growing up, I was the chubby tall girl. I was fine when I was like 3-7 but when I was 8 I gained some weight. Middle school BOOM I gained a lot of weight from 186-199.
high school I went from 199-242lbs. 5’8-5’11. I was a lazy student when it comes to sports, active things and my PE teacher flat out told some students that they are/not active. She bluntly told me that I am NOT active. How humiliating.
Boys especially cute ones NEVER paid any attention to me and only wanted the slim, cute girls. High school wasn’t any better. The jocks or good looking guys only talk to me to get to my gorgeous, slim/thick hot friends. My guy friend who I’ve known since 2nd grade was the only boy that notices me. He always asks me out, to school dances and prom. I reject him so many times because quite frankly I wanted a hot boyfriend but they always liked the slim, beautiful girls. Most guys like cute/hot girls. I was the DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend). I lost weight and I gotten men’s attention and started dating at 20. My relationship never lasted and I’m single still. My guy friend says I’m the most beautiful woman he ever ladies eyes on and he knew I was “the one” the first day he laid eyes on me. He was a chubby fat boy. He’s losing weight but still chubby. I gained some weight back and now I’m 250lbs. I would thought he would like a hot girl but he always chased me. Even now he admits that he’s in love with me and has been very consistent in texting me more, sending love letters. I keep telling him I only like him as a friend.

why can’t he find ANOTHER GIRL? There’s a lot of women he can give a chance but he only wants ME! I’m not his woman or the one. He kept asking, “Why can’t you see what I see? You don’t need to be skinny or hot to be beautiful and besides you’re way hotter than those gorgeous women and I like women chunky.”
