I wouldn't say one is better than the other.

Dogs are really good people, super affectionate and loyal, and they can be taught valuable skills.

But cats better suit my lifestyle because they are low maintenance. They are not needy and don't need constant attention. They can entertain themselves. They don't have to be let out to do their business or taken for walks. They are cute, cuddly, purr, have soft fur, are self cleaning and aren't stinky. They don't slobber or bark.

So I prefer cats. My wife and I have three right now. But I do think dogs are wonderful.

"better" is not the approach...

they do have slightly different needs though... for example, dogs would need and want more of your time and company, and also a lot more activity... while the cats need a bit less of that. lol

Dogs are cuter but cats are cleaner so I would never get a dog unless I was living with people who could clean up after him. I am very sensitive to unpleasant smells so I cannot take care of a dog with health issues on my own.

If I were going to get one, I'd get a cat. I don't have to take them outside in the summer...

I have two dogs; they are siblings.
Who ever says that dogs need 'more' effort to keep them... does not deserve a pet friend.
Cats are cute, too. But they don't know loyalty or 'pack solidarity'.
Why I have them: well... accidentally.
My neighbour asked to park them on my porch to look around for a family for them. They were little puppies.
The dogs and me looked at each other. We knew that we are meant to be a team.

Oh gee, I like both for different reasons. I like animals when I get to be with them from a young age... but other people's animals, they get ignored abused or not led in a good direction... I don't like those.

I have had both cats and dogs However, cats fit my current lifestyle. I am not a fan of taking a dog for a walk and picking up poop.

Sadly, I don't have a dog and I'm not sure it's a good idea to get one because of the deer ticks in the area.

Both are great pets but dogs are fun because you can take them on a hike or a run and they love going for car rides.
