They went to places, they did drugs, they started new life by moving away from hometown, they partied, they had more sex... compared to people now, ordering food from apps, drinking mineral water, doing crochet and knitting as leisurely activities, only dating successful people, sanitizing their hands obsessively in a funeral bc they are more worried about hygeine than the honour of deceased...

I agree with that lol because there was more of an openness and we would explore things and grow with things now you have to worry about everything

I stopped watching TV because if you pay attention to it nowadays it's programming you it's basically brainwashing you every program every news media Outlet they are all bought owned and they all have an agenda

Even our fast food back then was real now McDonald's hamburgers the meat is processed chemically made the French fries have so much pesticide on it it's unreal

Ketchup is not ketchup anymore it's chemically made just about everything that we eat in a box is chemically made or altered from real food it's a whole different world

In the 90s you could have a steak or a hamburger in 2026 you're getting a 3D printed steak that has flavoring to make it taste like a state

In the 90s things were real 2026 things are fake things are made to look real to fake us out but it's destroying the human race it's destroying our bodies and then you have big Pharma who says they have the cure for everything but they don't they just want you to spend that money invite everything that will almost work but not quite save your life or make you better because they want that dollar coming in every minute of the day

And medicine that does work have to fight big Pharma from lawsuits because they don't want people getting better

Yeah the 90s were much better time the 80s even better everything was more real everywhere you looked nowadays it's fake

I mostly agree. of course I wouldn’t say the 90s were perfect. let's be honest, every era had its problems.

However life back then did felt a lot perfected compared to now. For one social media wasn’t dominating everything, so people had to actually go outside, talk to each other, make plans, play sports, play video games together, watch wrestling, rent movies, go to parties, and enjoy what was in front of them.

Entertainment was also more limited, which made it feel more valuable. You didn’t have endless apps giving you thousands of options at once. If you rented something from Blockbuster or caught something on TV, you actually sat down and enjoyed it instead of scrolling forever looking for something better.

Music felt different too. I’m not saying every artist back then was great (or they sure were compared to most of today's artists,) but attention worked differently. Back then, you usually needed radio play, live performance, a real fanbase, or industry backing to break through. Now someone can blow up overnight because of followers, trends, or algorithms, even if their talent sucks ass.

So yeah, I think the 90s felt more fun in a lot of ways. Not because people were automatically better, but because the culture pushed people to be more present, social, and creative with what they had.

A person can still do those things but the problem is we're obsessed with recording, that time was basically hippie era. People were free as birds but a lot of bad things happened during that time which led to how we interact with each other now. You're not going go get into a stranger's car, pull over to the woods, have sex with them and move on with your lives. There are proud and out incels and abusers. Their technology wasn't as advanced as it is now and everything we do now is  EXTREME . People still make sex tapes but they somehow find their way to twitter and people use them as revenge porn so to people who aren't recording themselves while sex, I don't blame you and frankly I don't recommend you do it.

There are now apps for apps, recently I discovered a “dating app for those who hate dating apps”. The real world solution would be go outside, touch grass, meet people, get to know people, and have sex or get a nice dinner, get to know em better.

People in the 90s weren’t conditioned to be glued to a flip phone or something.
They went out, socialized, and did stuff.
Like I don’t like the dystopia we conditioned ourselves to live tbf and I didn’t grow up in the 90s, but the modern world puts me off. It’s like a train I can’t get off.

More romanticizing then : They also were very often bored, were stuck in the countryside with no access to goods or cultures, except agriculture lol. They walked 45mn to meet a friend that in fact was not here but there was no mobile phone so they couldn't be sure where he was. More suspicions about what you're saying also: Dating only successful people? Where? It doesn't happen locally lol. Not in 2026, and not in 1996 either. Or it does, and did, in the upper spheres perhaps. Also, still locally, tap water is clean, mineral water is only useful when you eat so poorly that you have vitamin deficiency. Oh, that's false. People in the 1990s were as much assholes as anyone after Reagan was inaugurated. Once he became President, it was like a light switch for younger people to become assholes. And now that almost all the adults of that time have died off, we're stuck with the assholes and most people never even knew an asshole-free existence.
