In terms of culture, I would say yeah.. Even though the music was still a bit too much, it still had substance.. It wasn't just about what color your booty hole and p*ssy was.. Movies in Hollywood still wanted to tell stories, in fact they were more experimental in the 90s with the movies honestly.. Now it's more about them pushing a message and executives budding into the creative process.. In terms of crime though.. Well.. Today is better.. LOL..
Man you don’t know how older people parents would say for someone like me in my 20s say we live in dangerous times where the news talks about hun violence and killings with people our age makes them believe and think us young folks in our 20s won’t have the fun like they had where they would say they didn’t have all the stuff that’s going on for people where they talk about the old days of having fun, going to clubs, and partying also leaving their car doors unlocked back in the day without worrying about someone stealing make you annoyed by it like young folks now can’t have fun in no type of way these days you know?
Aw yeah, I feel that, but that definitely wasn't the 90s statistically speaking.. Especially in places like Inglewood, in California, Detroit, 90s Chicago and New York.. Shoo, we actually have less gun violence now..
Woah really? That's crazy man, I always just figured the older folks were being dramatic but didn't realize the 90s could actually be rougher statistically. I know places like Detroit, Chicago and NYC had some real bad reps back in the day from movies and shows.
I wish parents like mine would think so as they think and say there was violence then but it wasn’t bad til later my mom said around 98-99. Make sense that all the crime talk on the news now just seems extra amplified since there's less happenin overall. Still though feel like people were able to enjoy life more carefree even if risk was higher. Or maybe that's just how they remember it now looking back with rose colored glasses. Either way pretty wild to think about how much safer certain areas got since then. Guess the stats don't always match up to perception, hu?
I guess where I’m from in Louisiana MF’s be killing each other especially young dudes shooting and killing the most you hear on the news and all you hear on the news is sad stuff like mass shootings or robberies n whatnot. Makes em paranoid and think we can't go out and party or do normal fun activities like they did without fearing for our lives. Like yeah bad stuff happened before too but sounds like it wasn't as in your face 24/7.
Aw yeah, man I feel that.. I think lately it's been getting back up to the levels in the late 90s.. Pretty bad.. But now we have a 24 hour news cycle and you know they're always looking for a new story.. So it's definitely the fact that the news is amplifying things to get that viewership.. But yeah I do think there is a lot of Rose colored glasses looking back, not that there wasn't Roses and candy there though.. Cause the 90s did have a lot going for it..
You make a really good point man. On one hand the 24/7 news cycle does make it seem way worse always having something new to report on. But like you said things do seem to be trending up recently which is sketch.
I can totally see how the 90s would get looked at with rose tints now tho. There was a lot of dope stuff happening musically, with movies, fashion.. just a real creative high point culturally. And even if crime stats were rough in places, I'm sure people were still finding ways to have fun and kick it.
Plus no social media or smartphones back then so you could just be fully present wherever you were. Musta been nice to disconnect for a bit, ya know?
"Plus no social media or smartphones back then so you could just be fully present wherever you were. Musta been nice to disconnect for a bit, ya know?"
Aw yeah, I think that's one of the main things right there.. No social media or phones, just being present in the moment, that's probably what really made it good.. But yeah the 90s is more of the most colorful decades honestly.. Seemed a bit high energy.. Or maybe it was costing off the high energy of the 80s.. LOL..
no... Tom Brady had not really started yet
YESSS!!! I haven't even seen those times, I just know modern day is crap.
I can't remember anything good about the 90s.
