Were the 70s, 80s, and 90s really special years for the time period to live then?

I was born later but I wish I was around to see the stars of their day in their prime like Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, and other stars of that time, movies and music as well the culture and times to live at the time instead of today. The older people who lived in those years make it seem nowadays it’s a bad time to live as a young person and their time was better to experience.

No social media and more interaction face to face. Celebrities like Madonna, Michael, Diana, Whitney Houston, Tupac were either alive or young back then at the peak of their careers and witness the big events that happened culturally.

Every decade has its unique contributions to the world. After the 90s the 2000s saw the true rise of the internet as we know it. Before 2000 the Internet was unrecognizable. It was there but it was nothing like it is now.

The 2010s saw the rise of the insanity of the left with the extreme acceptance of anti white racism, anti male sexism, and anti straight bigotry. And toward the end we got the rise of the one insane idea to rule them all. Trans.

Now in the 2020s we're seeing the rise of artificial intelligence. And we're even beginning to see the rise of the counter culture to all the bullshit of the 2010s and the first signs of beating back the retardation are cropping up all over the place.

If I was a betting man, I would say the 2030s are almost certainly going to see the rise of the robots thanks to the ai being created in this decade. Workers, medical professionals, even girlfriends.

Stretching out even further to the 2040s I think we're going to see the rise of crispr cas-9 technologies. Altering our genes to make ourselves smarter, stronger, more capable of competing with the robots from the 2030s

If I really stretch my imagination the 2050s will probably see the rise of artificial super intelligence and the development of crispr will mean the merging of humans with machines so that there is no longer a need to compete since there won't be a difference between the two any more

Beyond that it's anyone's guess. We will be at the point of the technological singularity and the whole point of that moment in history is that it's impossible to predict what will happen next.

If you’re used to the modern era, you wouldn’t have liked it.

MJ was known by most people back then as a weirdo. Literally nobody would’ve gone to a party and asked to play Madonna or Michael Jackson. You have a skewed view of the period. In the 90s, yes everyone heard the pop music of the time and also watched the music videos of it on television and radio but most people had a more niche taste in music. Grunge was big among young people. The 80s was similar. But in the 70s most young people did actually listen to the majority of the most popular music apart from groups like ABBA. Because the 60s and 70s were a time of big attitude change in society. People became a lot more tolerant and less uptight. Many of the reasons were due to a higher popularity of higher education where many young people met each other as well as better mechanical technology in cars. Suddenly you could actually go places and meet cool people who were alright and not dicks.

These days, we are seeing the reverse of that. We have a society of dicks who frequent the echo chamber of social media where they blindly subscribe to things they agree with and don’t look to see if there is actually truth to it.

So if you like Michael Jackson and went to a party in the 90s with your MJ albums, you probably would’ve been ridiculed to the point of tears. Quite possibly even physically attacked.

I like the music and movies. My mom and dad grew up during that period, and definitely enjoyed that time of their life. I love looking at their pictures 😊 You know, Polaroids and pictures that were actually developed, I also like looking at their yearbooks. It seemed like a cool time to grow up in.

I'm a 80s and 90s baby, those times were the greatest times to live in because the fundamentals meant something and they were pure fun especially when it came to entertainment and fun activities but don't be a shame of your time because we did have some flaws back then like we have today. Nowadays, take the time to really learned from us grown folks and applied them by understanding today. Like for example; If you like Michael Jackson or Prince: artists like Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Neyo, and K pop captures some elements from those artists.

It was actually an amazing time. The one difference, like you mentioned, was no social media! That means politics wasn’t such a shit hole like it is today! People would argue about it face to face but have an understanding with each other and a respect for each other. I had many arguments in bars! There was also a common love for America that we’ll probably never see again. I wasn’t a fan of Bill Clinton, as well as most democrats but I never questioned their love and loyalty to this country, I just questioned their vision of its future. It was an amazing time, without a doubt!

In the era of hair metal bands and annoying one-hit wonders I was too young to be expected to pay any attention to popular music which certainly helped. That aside, the 80s were pretty good to me for the most part. The early 90s were pretty good as far as having friends goes, outside of school that is. I got uprooted twice early on so I was pretty much screwed in regards to making friends in school

Kids played outside more and had more face-to-face interactions with their peers. Obesity was not as bad as it is today.

Politicians agreed to disagree and didn't call each other evil. Politics did not break down into childish name calling: nazi, fascist, commie, pedo, groomer, libtard, etc.

Reality TV was not the biggest thing on TV.

Most music still had actual musical instruments.

The 90s were not very fun to grow up in. Lots of political correctness, lots of zero tolerance policies, lots of expectations, tight media control..

But I got to experience what researching things through books and what rewriting rough drafts by hand felt like. People these days don't know how much technology makes things easier and how much technology has changed the world in the last 30 years.

I would not want to grow up in gen z though. Too much has gone wrong.

It was definitely a nice time to be a teenager and in my 20s during the 80s , cool cars, movies, and music. MTV was actually music television back then
