I live alone and so I try not to waste food. My daughters are both vegetarians. So, about 2 months ago, there was a sale on prime roast. I never get it, but it was about 1/2 the price, so I splurged in it.
A neighbor of mine, who lives alone and is rather rigid in her ways, used to go out a lot with me. Lately she has not, although she is still friendly and texting me as I do her. I cooked the prime rib yesterday, and offered her a slice of it as I was going to freeze the rest. I had texted her this, and I got no answer although she has read it. Was this offensive to her maybe?
Just so you know, this is a bit about her. We were once in a Mexican restaurant (she was for the "wall" even though she likes Mexican food) and she mentioned a woman who was wearing close to nothing at another table and got huffy about it, as if the woman was a tart. I thought to myself, the woman could wear whatever she chooses. Other times, she has shown that she could be a but neurotic. She also seems to have a dislike for Muslims, which are a prominent group where I am.
Would you have been wary if I had offered you a slice of prime rib, or thought this was weird? I mentioned it was a lot and that I was freezing there rest of the cooked portion.

If you didn’t cut into it and had it on your plate if it was on the side like on the platter that is fine, but I don’t like people eating off of something on their dinner plate and they can’t finish it then they say here like a dog. I’m very picky about germs
It is a 5 pound prime rib roast. I cut off slices to eat myself, but it is still in one big piece. She read the text late today and she thanked me, but she had already gone to the store for steak tips.
OK, thanks for sharing
You didn't do anything wrong. You're a nice person trying to offer a nice thing. She sounds like a difficult person to be a friend with based on what you have shared here.
She's very set in her ways, yes. She can be better but she can be like that sometimes.
Well I would think it was very nice for a neighbor to think of me like this. She's lucky to have a kind neighbor like you.
Thank you.
it sounds like one of those people that will just look at anything to get mad...
I wasn’t sure if she felt insulted that I had offered her food. She’s moody, but it was no big deal.
I don't think it's rude. I think it was very generous and kind of you. If you were my neighbor and you had offered me that, I would have been very grateful.
I sometimes offer my next door neighbor some meat if I buy too much, like a huge ham I once got, and he was grateful. She read her text from me late, and had already gotten some steak tips but she thanked me for the offer.
Sounds good.
Thank you. I try to be a good neighbor.
Sounds like you're doing a very good job of being a good neighbor.
No, not at all.
No that wasn't wrong that was neighborly
Not at all.
