Do you give your pets people names or pet names?

By this question i am asking if you name your pets things like “Sam”, “Joey” or “Katie”? Or do you name your pets things like “Fluffy”, “Muffin” or “Tweety”?
As a child, i had “Tippy”, “Tuffy”, “Sparky”, “Cupcake” and “Ares”. As an adult, i had “Laddy”, “Niki” and “Sam”. “Niki” was inspired by the name given his sister, “Kiki” which was deliberately derivative of “kitty kitty”. I inherited Sam from a friend, and i didn’t change his name. But after playing “Onimusha”, i did stretch his name out to “Samanosuke Akechi”. He didn’t seem to mind. Ell oh ell!
If i ever have another pet, i will definitely use a people sounding name. This is because i have since seen a veterinary file with my cat’s first name and my last name. Of course it makes sense, but i just can’t reconcile a goofy pet name with a human surname. Wigglebutt Schwarzenegger might be funny at first, but it’s just silly sounding.
