What do you do when you are 3rd or more wheels in your family gathering?

Everyone already has someone to talk to except you basically and you cannot get a word in.

oh... I was extremely shy as a kid, so that was basically my life... for about a third of my life lmao

nowadays, that's just peak comfort for me... doesn't bother me at all

if you want to join though... don't take the word, just throw a random joke or a question from time to time, and that's all it takes for you to be part of it... lol

I'm the complete opposite these days. Used to have family that was more engaging with me. Now it's all about my brother and his girlfriend..

I get along with my family generally it's just that its not even amounts like a 4on4 type thing. Like everyone has someone to chat with and switch with every once in a while

Just can't relate to them on the same level anymore. So I just kinda feel left out. When its an odd number of family members it's more difficult for me to strike up a conversation.

I am much better at one on one conversation so I get the group thing too. I usually have to single out one person and have a side convo with them if I don’t feel close to all of them but it’s at least a little less bad around family.
