How do you avoid third wheeling?

If their man tells you that you are "unapproachable" - don't just get all defensive and put up a wall and say stuff like "oh that's not me!" or "you don't know who I am!" or "the nerve of them to say such". They are probably telling you stuff that you can be blind to. A lot of the times we're blind to both our strengths in what we are capable of and we are also blind to our weaknesses as well (meaning we reject any notion of a fault of ours/in denial of a particular character trait that's faulty).

Maybe you are putting off a certain "vibe" or a front of some kind that intimidate guys around you that are probably interested in you. Hey, "gorgeous women" (this is subjective) are going to intimidate even the most "handsome" guy (s) or even the not so good-looking fellas.

So you're tired of feeling "left out" of the loop in the sense. Anyone can give you advice on anything - heck even my post can be an advice. Up to you what you want to do about the answers presented to you from the posts before mine.

So to not feel that way, begin with some sort of self-reflection (of any form i. e. meditation etc). There's probably something about you that you are not aware of that sort of "pushes" guys away from you. Diagnose/address the "issue" and fix it. The answer will come to you from the excess contemplation.

Probably a movie date would be most ideal cause you can just casually ask someone to go with a group and it not be a big deal. Bonus points if you see something scary and cuddle up with them for being “scared”. This works better for girls then guys though cause I’m always a third wheel

Just kidding. My friends are really good at not making me feel like a third wheel if we happen to be hanging out and a boyfriend is there. Typically, it'll be my group of friends doing something and one or two girls' boyfriends will tag along, but the girls who brought them aren't hanging all over them, they see it as friend time instead of boyfriend time, so pay attention to the rest of us.
An easy strategy is to just third wheel the couples during non-date activities. Keep it casual, treat it like you're a group of friends instead of a couple and you alone.

Simple: if they make you feel that way, stop hanging out with them.

I feel your pain. I used to feel that way when I was in college and I was the third or fifth wheel.
I usually hung out with other singles, or just passed when they asked me to hang out with them because it felt awkward or I was in the way (they never said that but it was implied).

Ideally, if they're your friends, they should understand that and how you feel.

There are only a few ways to stop being a third wheel: not going out with couples, inviting other single friends and getting a boy/girlfriend. Pick one.
