Do you need better communication skills to make new friends and make new connections?

Nah. We need communication instincts and perception, as in hardware, while the skill is the software.

When someone cannot "read the room" it is never because they're not trying enough. It is more like they are trying too hard, and it is even more true that telling them that they are trying too hard will confuse them even more, make them try to stop trying.

We are born to communicate and we absorb skills when we grow up. What some may call lack of communication skills is usually either #1 broken hardware (some sort of disease or stress) or #2 they learned wrong and improper skills (such as by studying too hard growing up) after which eventually "the body presents its bill" as some psychologists wrote. ㅤ

It needs to be competent. Communication is key to letting others know who you are as a person.
