Why don’t parents understand your hobbies? Especially your Kpop hobby? My dad doesn’t understand it at all! He calls It waste of money, calls me h**ny for wanting it. He even calls my gaming hobby a waste of money. I hate him! He always yells at me

That’s a hobby? How?
He just probably feels it’s a waste of time if you aren’t doing anything else with your time.
most people including parents don’t judge what your hobbies are unless they feel you’re springing allllll your time on it and don’t see a future for you, so they become concerned..
If they do see you’re going somewhere in life with your studies or work , they 99.99% of the time the will not judge whatever your hobbies are.
so if you know where you’re headed in life, none of this should actually matter to you. Unless you are lost, have no idea what you want and spending all time in this hobby then I can see what’s concerning to your parents. In that situation you should set time apart from the hobby and start prioritizing what you want from life until you find it, organize how you’ll get it and once you set the goal, return to the hobby but not full time so you dedicate time to what’s actually gonna elevate you in life to sustain yourself. It’s not easy for most of us, most of us will struggle to find our direction in life.
Wdym how is it a hobby? I collect albums, photocards, and merchandise. etc
I have medical conditions! I am on disability benefits. I can’t do anything.
What do you have?
Wdym what do I have? What does it matter to you?
If you don’t actually have a disability the prevents you from doing anything in life, then you are making yourself disabled by yourself. That’s why.
My advice is don’t spend most of your time on things that will not give back to you until you find your direction in life.
Till then, limit yourself to the amount of time spent on such things if it’s not actually helping you elevate in anyway.
It’s easy to say I have this and can’t do anything unless you actually cannot get up and do something.
If it’s a mindset, learn to overcome it.
Type 2 diabetes for example = self inflicted disability
Being too fat to walk and always choosing wheelchair when you have functioning legs = self inflicted disability
Thinking you can’t do anything and refusing to do anything = self inflicted disability
Unless you actually cannot walk because you can’t, strapped to a bed ot chair.
There’s always something you can do if you out the time to investigate, but if you put all the time into a hobby that doesn’t give you back then you’re wasting life away and you’ll regret it when you turn 40 and will wish you were 27 again and changed your mind.

I have medical conditions! I am on disability benefits! You have no idea what i have to go through in life!!
You asked for examples, here is one, yelling at this woman for trying to help. She wasn’t rude at all. I will comment on the others to show you as well.
Because they were being unhelpful and annoying. they don’t know what i go through yet acting like they do
@HollyK21
Read her comment
How is she unhelpful when she put time and effort into writing some pretty lengthy feedback on your behalf? It’s mean spirited to call her annoying.
Because she doesn’t know what i go through. She literally just told me to go get a job
She doesn’t know you personally so telling you to get a job is just the general solution. Nobody knows what your health conditions are, so again, the general consensus would be that if you’re an able-bodied person, you should be able to work.
🤯...
Honestly, after reading your other responses, I can understand why your parents are worried. It doesn’t seem like the issue is simply that you enjoy K-pop, it’s that you seem to have no plan for your future and become defensive whenever someone suggests doing more with your life.
If you’re genuinely unable to work because of your medical conditions, that’s one thing. But being on disability doesn’t automatically mean you have to give up on having goals, developing yourself, or finding things you CAN do. And nobody here can know what you’re capable of without knowing your circumstances.
Your parents are worried about what happens when they’re no longer around to support you.
That concern doesn’t necessarily mean they hate your hobbies—it means they’re afraid you’re completely dependent on them while putting all of your time and energy into something that, by itself, won’t give you long-term independence. It doesn’t help you progress in life.
You asked why your parents see your hobby as a waste of money. From everything you’ve said here, I think the bigger issue is what the hobby represents to them: they see you spend your life immersed in it while having no apparent plan for what comes next.
That’s very worrisome to any parent. And honestly, responding to everyone by getting angry and accusing them of not understanding you isn’t going to make people understand you better.
If you want people to take your situation seriously, explain what you’re dealing with and what limitations you actually have instead of attacking anyone who suggests you find something you CAN do.
At this point I kind of feel sorry for your parents 🥴if this is how you respond..
I have medical conditions! I can’t work! I’m on disability benefits! I can't DO ANYTHING!
People don’t understand my situation!! PEOPLE JUST ASSUME LIKE I’m like everyone else, telling me to work, get a job! If I could get a job, I wouldn’t be here complaining
You keep repeating it and yet say nothing. The fact that I never mentioned for you to get a job and you yourself saw that tells you exactly anything. Your subconscious reveals to you what you know you need to do. Excuses will only take you so far. Maybe you’re not like anyone else but there’s certainly SOMETHING you can do.
My cousin has seizures daily and cannot drive. She has a part of her brain missing and still works from home, has bills to pay and responsibilities. Everyone’s situation is different someone’s than others but there’s always something you can do unless you’re a complete vegetable.
Find yourself.
Mine absolutely understand my key collection hobby 🥹🗝️🔑🫶
My parents are the same. Ignore them and do your thing.
I like your dad and I don't even know him.
WTF? Wtf is your problem
Try to ignore it or save money and move out
I have medical conditions! I am on disability benefits. I can’t move out
Another example. How was she rude or warrant your yelling?
I didn’t yell? I just explained why i can’t do that
There’s no way you’re actually 27. No way.
HOW? WTF IS YOUR PROBLEM! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I GO THROUGH
Dude you take perfectly normal conversations then start spazzing out and yelling. You sound like a big baby. Keep that weird shit up and your dad will be the only one willing to deal with you.
Because you literally said “There’s no way you’re actually 27. No way.”
That’s no “perfectly normal conversation”
YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I HAVE TO GO THROUGH IN LIFE!!
YOU ARE SO RUDE!!
I said CONVERSATIONS, that means how you talk to people on this platform as a whole. You start yelling and spazzing out for no reason. Even in this post, you’re being rude to the anon woman for no reason, saying “what’s it matter to you?” Like damn dude. Then two other comments under this same post, you’re yelling at people about having medical conditions. It’s just weird, rude and unwarranted 90% of the time.
Everyone is always rude to me!
What conversations? Give an example
Because why are they asking what i have like it’s relevant? It’s not rude!
It is mean spirited. You don’t have to talk to people like that. I would also comment under the anonymous woman but if won’t let me, she is another example though. That makes 3 under one post. Yelling and screaming at everyone. It’s ridiculous.
Wdym i don’t have to? How else would i talk to them?
Like an ADULT.
What is “Like an adult”?
They’re being annoying and many of people are being mean
I get that you have a lot going on but lashing out on people that you are asking for help from is just not ok. No one on this website is responsible for your medical issues or your current state of living, so stop treating people as if they are. Everyone has been trying to offer help and somehow you turn it into malicious intent. It is irrational and illogical.
People give me such unhelpful comments
How are they helping?
I feel like you have this expectation that people should just know what’s going on in a strangers life. We don’t know unless you speak on it, one on one.
Do your health conditions keep you from having any sort of job? Even remotely? You cannot support a family off disability alone, you just can’t. It messes with your chances of finding a relationship, but that’s a different conversation, I’m just making mention.
What am i supposed to do then?
I have no choice
Why are you living with parents?
I have medical conditions! I am on disability benefits. I can’t move out
And also what’s wrong with living with your parents anyway
What is horny about K-pop?
Because i’m a guy and i stan girl groups
That's what guys are supposed to do, the whole K-pop machine would not exist if it weren't for that.
Incel
Wtf are you talking about? What’s incel about this?
they do
They do
Wdym they do
They support what I do and I do good things
