Should I tell my friend I like her?

I have developed a crush on my friend over the past couple weeks, but we never hangout because she has a busy life. I text/Facebook her quite a bit, and both of us initiate the conversations. I'm not sure if she realizes that I am into her "that" way. She said she liked being friends with me a few days ago. I'm not sure if that's hinting at she just wants to be friends, or was just being nice. I'd like to call her and tell her how I feel, but I'm not sure what to say. I'm also afraid this will end our friendship. That's why I'm hesitant and it's the last thing I want to happen. She's all I think about now and with school starting up, it's not a good combo. I've never been in a relationship, so I'm not sure how to go about this. I'm 20 and she's 19

Based on my experience, if a girl throws "friend" into a conversation, she's picked up on signals and its definitely a hint not to go any further. She doesn't want to have to turn you down, you don't want to be turned down, she's trying to head you off at the pass. Do not say anything, you'll end up regretting it. This is especially true if you have no evidence that she's being anything more than friendly with you.
