Should I let my friend pierce my belly button?

I'm worried it might get infected but I just found out it costs around $30! I can barely afford that and I think my friend would do it free but if it got infected I might get mad enough to end the friendship because its that serious to me.

It's going to be my first piercing (except for regular ear piercing)...Idk what to do because money is an issue but I don't want my health to be ruined either. My friend herself has hella piercings and she recently starting doing other people but I Haven't asked her where she gets her needles from and stuff. I've been doing some research and most say getting it done by a professional is best. My friend assures me its safe but I don't know and I don't wana make her feel bad since she offered to do mine.

Wow thanks for the tough love everyone! I'm glad I looked up if it ever closes up because when I have children I wouldn't want it anymore but I heard it leaves a nasty scar so I don't think I'll get one.

I suggest that you get it done by a professional. It isn't safe and no matter how much you want to consider your friends feelings on the matter, your health should come first. Just think about the Pros and Cons of getting it pierced by your friend. It could scar you for life if she makes one mistake or punctures the wrong spot. And also think about it this way. Have you ever wanted to give blood or voluteer for some program like that? If you have ANY piercings or tattoos, they require a registered place or name of the place you got it from. They won't let you do anything. I'm not making your choice for you, but just think about it. Its better to be safe than sorry :)

I know two people that got body piecings from friendds who were not professionals. And you know what happened- they both got infected. One almost landed up in the hospital since they waited so long to go to the doctor. If you are too cheap to pay a professional you don't really want it. And if you do choose to go the route of non-professional well you just deserve what you get. But I have heard of people getting infections from body piecing that can poison your blood. That lands you in intensive care for at least a week if you don't die. Sepsis is nothing to mess with.

I'm going to say go for it, because if you do then you are giving the great potential of ending your gene pool. And I don't know what you mean by costs as when my ex got her's done it was only 40 bucks. But that was awhile ago. In all seriousness though, just go to one of those mall piercing places or a tattoo shop. Infection and possible rejection are much higher when done by someone who isn't trained.

Firstly, I DON'T agree with the piercings thing.

I think for a girl, earlobes piercings are more than enough.

Secondly, when I did my earlobe piercings,

my aunt did it for me. She works in the health field,

so she has clean sterilized disposable needles

which are used only once.

I don't think I would go to anyone to do it for me if I'm not sure of this.

If you are sure she uses clean methods, then go for it.

Although I think your ear piercings are enough,

and I don't advice you to do more than this.

$30 is definitely a fair price to pay to not get an infected belly button. I'd pay more than that even, if I really wanted it. Piercing infections HURT LIKE HELL, can do permanent damage, and are just plain icky. The belly button, regardless of who does it, is an easy place to get infected in general. Just save your cash and pay the money, cause it'll cost a LOT more than $30 to go to the doctor if it's not done right. Good luck and be safe!

I think you should do it with somebody professional because getting infections is pretty easy, also you have to know all the ways you have to take care of your belly button ring. You have to wash the are with neutral soap and there are other recommendations only a professional would give you. A friend of mine got it done and she didn´t care for it properly so it got really infected and a lot of pus started to come out of it. Better safe than sorry.

Hmm.. Well if you get it pierced for free and it gets infected... You will end up spending more money than if you get it done by a shop pierced by a professional with proper handling and sanitization.
