I think your girlfriend has mixed feelings. She probably likes your friend more than you, but somehow can't bring herself to be with your friend. She is probably telling you her true feelings. She is telling you now so that she won't have to lie to you in the future. If she likes your friend, then you can't force her to like you. Ask her if she likes you or your friend. If she likes your friend, then it is only right that she be with your friend instead of you. This is hard, but it is the right thing to do.

Sometimes you just don't have feelings for someone and can't explain it. It's hard to say what the true case is with her...she might have feelings for you if the friend wasn't in the picture, or she might not.
