Did my cleavage freak him out?

A couple days ago a guy friend of mine and I were having a very candid conversation about cleavage. He told me that he didn't understand why women like myself (38D) and his girlfriend (almost same physique as me) are always wearing t-shirts up to our necks when we wield so much power by wearing shirts that give guys a flash of cleavage. He went on to say that he had a hard time not staring at other women's' breast when they were out together for dinner, etc... The next day I was dressed up in my workout clothes (Tank top/workout pants) and I stopped into our work place because I forgot something there the day before. I positioned myself in a place that I knew he would get a HUGE eyeful. (I know it's not nice, but once you realize you have a pocket of kryptonite, you can't help but want to see the affects) The whole time I was there he couldn't stop pacing, he's usually very comfortable to stand extremely close to me, but not this time. He hardly even faced me. And I got the sense he couldn't get away from me fast enough. What gives guys? Why can a guy stare at random girl's boobs, but freak out over a friend's boobs?

We feel embarrassed to stare at a friend that way. Strangers, we look and we figure they want us to, or theywould't dress that way.

We think we shouldn't tare at friends or co-workers in that way..and in fact, we can get in trouble just for looking, you know, in a work situation.

But it makes most of us uncomfortable to have to try to avert our eyes from obvious cleavage, so we try to avoid the situation completely, as he did! We just run away!

Because it's a contradiction. As his friend he views you non-sexually but when you did that his mind went to sex and the contradiction made him uncomfortable. When staring at a random woman's boobs that girl is a stranger and we have no emotional connection, kind of like how you can gossip and say things that may seem rude about strangers walking down the street or in the mall.

um well he has a girlfriend and he just told you how attracted he is to boobs and you went up there with the intention of working him up and you did it sounds like. no surprise ... do you like this guy or just like knowing he's attracted to your boobs?

Nah, kind of proving a point that the situation would be awkward. I think my point about wearing collars to the neck was made. You wouldn't put a for sale sign on a car that your not selling.

he was embarrassed that he was going to stare at you. I'm sure if you hadn't had the convo then he probably would have stared when he thought you weren't looking but because you had the convo he was in an awkward spot
