As you can see from the image above, Baumrind's four parenting styles can be broken down as follows:

Authoritarian - a restrictive, punishment-heavy parenting style in which parents make their children follow their directions with little to no explanation or feedback and focus on the child's and family's perception and status. Corporal punishment, such as spanking, and shouting are forms of discipline frequently preferred by authoritarian parents.

Permissive - try to be "friends" with their child, and do not play a parental role. The expectations of the child are very low, and there is little discipline. Permissive parents also allow children to make their own decisions, giving them advice as a friend would. This type of parenting is very lax, with few punishments or rules. Tend to give their children whatever they want and hope that they are appreciated for their accommodating style.

Rejecting-Neglecting - do not set limits or monitor their behavior and are unsupportive of them. Parents are often focused on their own needs over their child’s.

Authoritative - characterized by a child-centered approach that holds high expectations of maturity. Authoritative parents can understand how their children are feeling and teach them how to regulate their feelings. Even with high expectations of maturity, authoritative parents are usually forgiving of any possible shortcomings. They often help their children to find appropriate outlets to solve problems. Authoritative parents encourage children to be independent but still place limits on their actions.

How did your parent's parenting style effect you growing up and now that you are an adult? If you are a parent, which style do you tend to use?

My little sister is 15

I looked on her phone & found out some guy was messaging her sexually
i scrolled up and saw that he sends her dick pics
I didn't see any pictures sent from her though

I thought maybe he was harassing her but she was being sexual back with him
this is hard to talk about, but she was saying she wanted to do things to him...

very nasty things they talked about doing, should i tell our mom? I don’t think I’d be able to handle it the right way
she’s only 15..

im not sure how old the boy was, he could be some old man

there’s no way I can let this go though
it’s either me or mom

if I have a talk with her moms probably gonna get involved anyway

i know how to work social media better than my mom does so if I go on her phone, I’m going to make sure that man can’t contact her again, our mom might not know how to do that..

Ok so like 2 months ago my grandpa was evicted
My mom let him stay here, obviously
Ever since he's moved in things have sorta changed

My grandpa is very old, he likes to speak to people his age
So he started making a bunch of old friends around the neighborhood.
He's made at least 10 older friends

They sit outside all day & talks about who knows what, its pretty annoying because they all get quiet and stare once you go outside

Anyway my grandpa became best friends with a homeless man named "Toy"

The house next to ours is empty, so since my grandpa and toy are best friends, toy started sleeping on the porch of the abonded house next to ours..

My Mom felt bad for Toy.

My mom has 2 cars, her old car and new one.
My mom gave me and my sister her old car
but my sister and I don't have our licenses
So it just sits there until we get them

My mom thought itd be a good idea to let toy sleep in the car she gave to us

Do you think she's being too nice?
I mean we don't really even know him
He's just a homeless guy out grandpa met while sitting outside.

We never even knew he existed before my grandpa moved in..
& its sort of my car..

How would you feel if your mom gave you a car and let some random man sleep in it?

I mean I would've just given him a blanket & pillow

Its not cold outside yet it still gets too hot.
If it was freezing outside I'd be more understanding

I try to be a good friend, but I just don't care nor did ever care about friendships since child hood. It means nothing to me.

I only like being a "Good" time friend, meaning watching the Super Bowl or sports, movie, together, party and BBQ but nothing too close.

It's just stressful and annoying to deal with and maintain.

What about you? And does being a good time friend only make someone a bad friend or person you think?

And she KNOWS this too.

I work at the back stage of a camp play. the play was yesterday and I was in the back and it was super hot. my underwear was annoying me and itching so I took it off and put it on this tray thing. I forgot that they wheel the tray into the play. the scene is supposed to be at a restaurant. so there it is they wheel it out and there's my sweaty tighty whities where the pretend food would be. so the audience busts out laughing. everyone in the play is scrambling. the director back stage is pissed and is mad at me. since I deal with the props. he does not know its my underwear. now he is demanding I tell them whos they are and how they got there.

so I told him it was this other kid who helps on the set. and now the director is mad at him. there is an "investigation" and things will be delt with this week.

I feel like its been to late to explain it was my underwear now. what do I do.
