I agree about not texting too early, which gives the impression of your thinking about him the whole time. It's wise not to give that leverage to men, if you know what I mean... LOL
Over the weekend, probably 10ish or later in the morning is good. I'm having a similar episode with my guy now, which I can share later with you over PM.
I don't think it really matters much. If you're afraid of "seeming desperate" then toss that out of the window because life is too short for worries about trivial things like that however if you're worried about convenience, try somewhere around 9am-11am. That's when people are usually up and ready, not too many plans.
I would text closer to 11 AM. I'm an early bird but most people aren't, and some people are gentle enough sleepers that they wake up when they get a text. Texting at 11 am ensures that you won't end up accidentally waking them up.
