I have been obsessed with makeup bloggers on YouTube, and after 1 year of following their advice, reviews, and commentary; here are a few things that I've learned.

1. Most likely sponsored
I know that one must proclaim if the video is sponsored, but it feels like even bloggers that claim that nothing is sponsored, have some sort of affiliate link where they recieve a percentage of sales.
2. Free products
Gurus have products sent free to them, there comes a point where a company would most likely not continue to send free products to a guru that talks down about their product... so again biased reviews.
3. Swatches are unreliable
Just like the scandal with Nikki Tutorials, whose pallette had incredible swatches on her channel, but was absolutely terrible in person...
4. Reviews are over hyped
Even if a guru is reviewing, a product can be overhyper due to sponsorship or affiliation. At the end of the day, you don't HAVE to have the newest $57 foundation.
5. Market what pays
Honestly, if a brand is paying you- then you'll focus on that particular set of products. A lot of YouTube bloggers seem to keep pushing the same product over and over in their tutorials, as if to embed purchasing this.
