Regardless of what the revisionists may claim, the Civil War was about slavery, and the defense of it. Yes, it wasn't the only issue, but without it there wouldn't have been a war, and with it there would have been a war eventually. Sorry to get deep on you, but I find the ownership of another human being ( which hasn't always been race-based, and goes back thousands of years ) to be repugnant in its very concept, and the wearing of the flag of a nation whose very existence was predicated on the defense of that institution doesn't reflect well on the bearer, most particularly if one is from the group that was most victimized by it.

People rock the rebel flag to express pride in their southern heritage, not because they are racist.
The confederate flag was a symbol of the south during the brief succession, not a symbol of slavery and racism.

But the main reason the south wanted to secede was because it supported slavery. So the symbol of the south's secession is inherently a symbol of support for slavery, which is pretty obviously racist.

It actually represents the nation, which was created when we got independence from a nation that was actually wronging us. The Confederate flag, on the other hand, was created to represent an area that seceded because they wanted to be able to have slaves. The very foundation of the confederacy was about racism.

I live near Houston. Granted, were not as bassackwards as Mississippi to South Carolina, I just know the flag has been all around me since a young age, and I've never known anyone that rocked it to be a racist. They're just proud southerners. I never rocked it, but then again, I've never much been one for being proud of a location.

Depends on the context. If you're into raceplay/humilation and wear one for a like-minded guy or a related event, that's perfectly fine (I personally would find it very hot). But please don't just go to a random beach on one, that would be incredibly inappropriate and offensive, and most likely all white guys present would be very turned off.
