What to wear to a 60s themed party?

The colors and styles in the 60s were sometimes pretty garish without having to do the stereotyped hippie thing (tie dye, beads, etc). I wear 60s stuff as part of my everyday wardrobe. It looks out of place but just enough so that it's fun. I wore something like the outfit on the left in this picture at work the other day.

Maybe it depends on whether you want to look like the 60s mainstream or the 60s fringe. There's also this this look but I think it's been done to death.
