What are the aesthetic standards that Westerners are pursuing?

Happiness cannot be determined at any point in one's life.
Happiness is the sum total of the entire life.
The western pursuit of happiness is a psychological state, which is why people often use anti depressants to achieve this state. Because they want to be happy not realising that happiness is a spiritual state not a psychological state. A state of being virtuous according to Aristotle.

Every pursuit in life is a pursuit for happiness. It's not a means it's an end.

Nope. I know plenty of unhappy attractive people and tons of happy unattractive people. In my experience if you can be comfortable with yourself it's much easier to be happy.

Different people who subscribe to different cultures like different things.

Black people like thicker women.
Rich people like plastic skinny women.
Metalheads like tomboys.
Rednecks like southern bells.
Geeks like smart and nerdy girls.

These are of course all generalizations, but they all point to the fact that our culture has a lot to play into when it comes to our preferences.

No, and they never will be, they are a happy and wonderful think, but they r not the key to happiness, but they r a key nonetheless. The key they give u is not to happiness. They r 1 of 100's of doors that lead to being more confident in ur self, more comfortable as being u.

Looks aren't required, but life will be a little easier with them than without.

Guys have it bad here too. Look creepy? Guess what bro, women won't talk to you. And the nicer you are the more they suspect you.

Aesthetics though, that falls under personal taste and there are few ways to account for that other than getting to know the individual.

I think it’s a big part.
Me for example, I am very happy with most things in my life but the main thing that depresses me is my looks.
If I looked the way I wanted to look, then I would be much happier :)
