What looks trashy?

What makes someone or something looks trashy/tacky? Is it always showing lots of skin and lots of makeup, or other smaller stuff?

By my definition "trashy style" is something that aren't aesthetically pleasing. It can be the color combinations, outfit combinations, pattern and low quality materials that can make something look bad. What's trashy for some is cool for someone else, so "ugliness" or "trashy" is subjective. Some thinks tattoos and piercing are trashy, other's don't.

I and @Leviathan_Charmer are agreeing in what we thinks look trashy. I don't like too baggy or tight clothing either, or outfits with a lot of holes in them. Harem or diaper pants, a caps and a lot of chains looks trashy for me. I don't like alternative styles like the typically emo, punk, goth etc. style either. Hockey hair and porn stache also looks trashy.

To me showing too much skin is a turnoff because everybody can see what is supposed to be for me. Not to say dont show any skin, it's sexy to have maybe a belly shirt or short shorts. But nowadays there are these shirts where half your boobs are out and you have the butt cheeks of your pants cut out and it's too much in my opinion. Makeup if its too much is also unattractive, men do like a natural face. If you wake up an hour earlier than you normally would just to do your makeup you might be doing too much. Most guys dont even notice or we REALLY notice. Also the way you carry yourself around others matters. But to each is own

I think it looks trashy when a girl tries too hard to be sexually suggestive, yet somehow puts no thought what so ever into her look. She just pairs the sluttiest clothes and make up together and doesn’t care how it looks. The smaller things are often overlooked, such as skin care and hair care.
Trashy girls often forget the golden rule of showing off one thing and hiding the rest. Instead of wearing a short skirt and hiding her breasts, she pairs a low cut too with it. The outfits look mismatched and loud. She doesn’t realise that porn outfits and celebrity outfits don’t work in real life.

It's the whole look that makes you look trashy. You can show sking without being trashy. In general wearing flashy stuff, exposing too much skin and wearing stuff that doesn't fit you well.

It’s okay to be dressed provocatively but if you dress that way and you act sexually way too openly then people will think you’re trashy

When it's bold colors that don't look good together (like hot pink with dark mustard yellow), mismatched patterns (brown plaid with ocean waves), mismatched clothing items (like a tank top with a stocking cap and a tie), or just in really poor taste (bikini beneath sweater vest that says "FUCK" or something).

the qustion is why we wear cloth. i think it basic purpose is to hide our body secound is a seasonal effects. After attain both need it must be decent and samrt so one may look hand some. by this point of we are trying to gain other attention and his her openion about our self. by cloth no body will say you are very wise or some thing like that. mostly dress aspect are you beauty your samrtness what so ever. in the western socity it boost sexual aspect too. if you want to keep sexual aspect modrate then you must wear decent dress. it same thing like you are driving a car on the road. and you have care others and abide by rules of road.

trashy is doing things in poor taste. Looking classy does not necessarily mean wearing expensive things. Things that are trashy: chipped nails (no nail polish is better than chipped), bra straps showing, wearing too much makeup, wearing too many colors (try to stick to 1 to 2 colors), wearing heels or wedges in a casual setting and wearing things that do not fight (ie: too tight). it's totally possible to look amazing on a tight budget too!

I agree with everything except for the bra straps. It's only trashy if you have those ugly pants traps that are really wide and have the little clips of the Top. If there is spaghetti straps then it's stylish instead.

For me, trashy is on the inside. If someone is a decent person with ethics/principles (or comes across that way, if I don't know them well), they won't look trashy to me regardless of how they style themselves.

The outfit involving braided hair, hoop earrings, tank top and denim skirt that's too short.

Skin tight and too revealing clothes, extremely high heels, too much makeup, animal print (some people somehow manage to look good in this), extremely thin brows, big fake lashes, long acrilic nails.
Also... language is way too important, but if you meant in appearance, that's it.
