Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yYou know what, Im going to go the other way with it just because i can.
So obviously, at least where i live in the uk, but i believe in at least the majority of the western world it was decided and awfully long time ago now, long before you were born that 'fur is murder' and thats its totally not cool to wear fur.
However, the idea i am going to pitch to you is that aslong as you eat the animal and you dont cause unecessary suffering when you kill it, wearing fur is just fine, why? because leather, thats why.
Furthermore if wearing fur is not ok, why would it be ok to pretend to be wearing it? Why would you want to socially signal that you have murdered a poor defenceless fluffy little bambi when you havent?
It would be like wearing a tshirt that boasts about being listed on the sex offenders register.
One thing is certain, people are very very confused.00 Reply

+1 yThe only time i would wear real fur is if it had to do with survival. However I've seen videos of how people get these furs for fashion, and its pretty damn horrific. I saw animals getting hanged by their feet and their skin being literally ripped off while they are alive. So yeah im seriously not gonna be wearing real furs for fashion.

+1 yI like fur, I'm not against fur, it's probably better for the environment... however I am strongly against the torture of all animals and fur farms disgust me. If we were to only make fur out of animals we kill to eat then there would be no problem whatsoever.

That is the most stuipid thing i heard today. Lets take your skin instead because fake leather looks cheap.

No, i am not vegan. But saying someone's life is les worthy than having a nice looking jacket or purse is absurd. Empathy is a trait of interpersonal intelligence, so acting it like you lack it is not something you should want

+1 yI've had both real fur and fake fur. I prefer real fur; it's warmer, nicer, and feels good. Fake fur doesn't even keep you warm very well. Real fur has certain properties that helps keep heat (obviously because it is from an animal).
I have a Reindeer fur hat from Russia. This psycho Vegan came up to me when I was wearing and yelled in my ear saying "nice hat... you piece of shit... hope you enjoy having a poor animal on you"
Hahahahhahahahahahaa.
As long as the entire animal is utilized and it wasn't wasted then I think it is fine.00 ReplyIt seems an unnecessary thing. I used to not care about animals when I was younger but being older has made me realise these lives are used up and spat out by our need for things we don't actually need in today's world. These animals just want to live, like you. They never asked to be born and butchered

+1 yOK so I'm not mad about fur but the way I see it is if your going to kill something fotmr food you bloody better use everything. Nobody bitches about leather because we're liking them all for the meat anyway. To kill something exclusively for the fur for the sake of fashion (not if your somewhere you need the warmth) that's where it gets sketchy.

+1 yI think real fur has a nicer quality, but I'm fine with fake fur too. The fur industry's methods seems unprofessional if you ask me. The meat industry gives the animals a bullet in their head and may even give them a form of anesthesia, so it's a more comfortable journey for everyone. The fur industry fails to do it.
I'm not political correct though since I eats meat and would still enjoy my chicken meal.10 ReplyI like fur.
I have nothing against fur from farmed animals such as sheep, rabbits and goats, and myself own three fur throws, one of which is clearly from a very young animal.
I'm a lot less accepting of something like Chinese fox farming practices, but then again, I believe in personal responsibility, and I don't see the end-users as responsible for anything involved in the process.00 Reply

+1 yI don’t wear fur but if I had a coat that had fur in the inside I would I prefer fake fur. Don’t like seeing animals get hurt when there are alternatives. Maybe back then it was necessary but definitely not in this age and definitely not in my country.
00 ReplyI don't care about people's perception or their opinions on my fur, I like to wear fur and have enough fur, not just as a coat.

+1 yDon't know much about either, but I did watch a video saying fake fur is better, due to multiple reasons, I'll see if I can find it, so I'd probably go with that, if needed, because it's cheaper and easier access, I'd imagine.

20 Reply Real fur was de rigueur in the UK up until the seventies but then they disappeared from the high street and specialist stores closed so it’s not as easy to find these days. Which do I prefer? Neither.

10 Reply1K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Oh, I *like* real fur. It's so soft and interesting to touch. But I would never buy any except vintage, and inexpensive.
00 ReplySoooo unnecessary. In a world full of fake yet so realistic fur and leather materials, why tf would you wear a real one?
23 Reply- +1 y
Fake fur can be made from plastic as well. We have so much of it polluting the world and it's usable material for building, clothing, appliances etc.
I agree why kill animals for things we can create for sustainably?
But ultimately it's all money. If people are willing to pay it'll be available. - +1 y

+1 yI find the idea of wearing a dead animal very morbid.
00 ReplyIf I have killed and eaten the animal. sure, it's a great protection from the elements.
Since don't need do that for survival. why should I do something meaningless like that 🤨00 ReplyIf you are going to use the rest of the animal and it's not indangered sure. E. g cows for leather and beef.
Animals hunted just for fur or are indangered shouldn't be allowed.00 ReplyI'm conflicted because leather is there already just from the cows we kill, throwing it away would be a waste.
But I really don't like that we kill so many animals00 Reply- 980 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic.
+1 yI think the rage about this is inconsistent. We eat meat so might as well use fur.

So long as the fur/leather comes from an animal regularly consumed such as cows, dear, goat, lamb, buffalo/bison, rabbits and moose or from invasive spices such as the pythons in Florida that need to be killed for the stability of the local ecosystem than yes I agree.
However no one who isn't starving is going to eat chinchilla, beaver, fox, mink/weasel or raccoon so those furs should stay in the past. These animals are either killed in the wild possibly decimating local populations or farmed purely for their fur which to me is cruel and a waste of life and resources that could be used to feed animals for food production.
Case in point Chinchilla farming (yes the video is from PETA but don’t worry about that just watch it) youtube. com/watch? v=nX_VkgVsUyc Chinchillas are very social animals, they love to jump, climb and squeeze in to small spaces with other chinchillas. The cage sizes used in farming are drastically inadequate but to farm quality Chinchilla fur it has to be. Their fur is so delicate you have to keep them from touching one another or being active and they must be killed young otherwise the fur quality decreases and then you have to kill them only after they finish molting to keep from getting a “break in the fur”.
I don’t think we should destroy furs/ leathers made from this animal that are in existence already (that would truly be wasting their lives) but we should stop making more.

@BethanyK86 as if we'd need meat to survive :D there's numerous good cases made for the fact, that going vegan as a global society will reduce world hunger, so my point still stands. the atrocities done to animals for food purposes are not lesser evils than the ones done for fur harvesting.
i'm just looking at it from a neutral and moral free position and from that position, eating meat and being against fur is contradictory.
from a moral standpoint, both is equally reprehensible and since i personally do still eat meat, it wouldn't be coherent to be on the fence about fur harvesting. however i do acknowledge that both is morally not ok.
