"sad" people don't treat you based on how you appear. how you appear is a consequence of your conscious choice. everyone has some ideas about which reasons lead to those choices in appearance. it has nothing to do with them being mentally unstable or "wrong". humans do that just like every other animal does it. it's a basic function of structuring and understanding the world around you which we can not and probably should not suppress, as it tends to be relatively accurate.
