How common is it for men to have long hair in your country?

In Northeast Asian countries (Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan) and South Asian countries (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh), it is very uncommon for men to have long hair. Long-haired middle-aged or elderly men or young men are practically non-existent. I am young and my hair is only slightly long, but nonetheless it has always attracted comments and negative attention (and still does). In West Asian countries (Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE) however, you would sometimes see middle-aged men or young men keeping their hair at least somewhat long. What is the fashion like where you live? Is it different across generations? Is long hair considered unmanly? What do you think of it?

It's somewhat uncommon in Japan although hardly non-existent. I'd say I see more guys with long hair in the US than in Japan. I think one of the reasons is that Japan has maybe a bit more emphasis on dress conduct at work, so most professional guys are clean-shaven with shorter hairstyle and you tend to see more suits here.

The guys I meet here who have long hair tend to be kind of rebellious types as a result. They might have be a bartender, DJ, ride motorcycle, have tats, something like this.

One of the things I rarely see here is like a nerdy/geeky type with long hair. That's something I saw a lot in the US at least when I was younger is that some of the guys with long hair were kind of geeky and might have like wavy long hair and thick spectacles and love going to Star Wars convention or something like this.

I live in Norway. It's very uncommon for men in all age groups to have long hair and young women to have short hair. It's however common for women over 45 years old to have short hair and in some LGBT+ groups.

Norway is a gender equal society, so it's not like you would get a lot of negativity if you choose the opposite of the norm. But it's much easier to attract a partner, especially if you're straight, if you're following the norm.

Straight men prefer feminine women with long hair and women prefer masculine men with short hair. Beard however isn't uncommon. Although the majority of men are clean shaven, there's some out there with stubble or short beards.

extremely uncommon. They were two guy that had long hair in my high school and I saw like 3 guys outside my school who had long hair but that's all.

After middle length hair (a bit above the shoulder) is pretty common among young people but less than some years ago, the trends is coming to an end.

I guess that depends on your definition of "long". In the U. S., most people have different definitions of "long" for males and females. For a female "long", is usually anything shoulder length or longer. For a male, all it takes is having hair that covers your ears for most people to consider it "long".

So, by the common definition of "long", I would say 5 in 10 men have "long" hair.

If by "long" you mean *actually* long (like shoulder length or longer), then I would say 1 in 20 men would have it.

It depends. A lot of guys here (the states) have long hair, like mine, half way down my back, but a lot of guys thinks it's REALLY cool to keep their head shaved so they all look like a bunch of skintone cue balls!! I think the days of men thinking long hair on a man is unmanly are long since over. Strangely, every depiction of Jesus and god that I've ever seen has then with very long hair but NOBODY seems to have a problem with THEM having it! I never see drawings of them with their head shaved or hair cut short and nicely parted, ala business attire.

Not that common. Most men have their hair short. I dont think long hair is considered unmanly really, just odd. I absolutely love it, my boyfriend has really long hair and I think its super nice. I think younger men are more likely to have long hair than older men

Vast majority id say 90% of the men at least in the South eastern US have very short hair. There are lazy old men sporting the skullet and some outlier 80s-90s refuse to change with the times types but they are very few. Long hair style is associated with hobos and unemployment only male models can pull this look off.

I actually had mid-back length hair when stretched out (my hair is wavy when long), for a while. It was pretty rare to see another guy with long hair, but there were a couple. Of course, I made sure to keep a long beard as well, not to look feminine. I liked the wild look but it got annoying after some time. So I went back to my super short buzzed hair I had previously.

I've never had my hair too long but I'm trying to grow it out rn, because long hair on men is in style in Canada rn, and I think it looks badass like a viking, or some other kind of warrior, or if you grow an Afro the cool 80's looks that are coming back in here too.

I'm in the USA. Most rocker dudes and or creative men have long hair. I love long hair on men. I mostly like Actor Kenaue Reeves style of hair, its medium length n kinda shabby. Looks super hot. I like men with short hair too. Long is special.
