Why are on average, women's shorts a lot shorter than men's shorts?

Look at the photo above... nothing out of the norm, just a regular couple in shorts.

But why are her shorts so short compared to his... his are below the knee, hers barely cover the thighs.

Here's an image of men's boxers as well... even men's underwear are longer than most women's shorts.

I get that men are men and women are women, but why such a staggering difference?

One female friend of mine said she just can't find longer shorts. However, another one said that longer shorts are indeed available, but she thinks the short ones look better on her.

What is the true reason?

Clothing that is skimpy, dainty, thin, short, tight, cropped, etc, is considered feminine. Showing more bare skin and emphasizing the body is associated with vulnerability and sexual signaling.

Clothes are designed to look big, bulky, rugged, layered and concealing, is considered masculine. Showing less skin and less emphasis on the body signaling strength and authority.

You think our shorts are small, you should see what they sell us for underwear. You could floss with it.

Because the female body has always been sexualized... The purpose of shorts and summer clothes is to keep you comfy in high temperatures and warm weather. I don't see how wearing something tight is comfy (usually male shorts are much more relaxed)

Fashion trends. I don't remember the last time I saw a pair of long shorts while shopping. Shorter ones are what is widely offered.

Obvious reason is by nature female beauty and sexuality with skin and men power is with body muscle.
