I've been pale almost my entire life and never really went out in the sun at all. I liked my pale skin, but then people like my family and friends started telling me that pale skin looks unhealthy and that I need some vitamin D, so I started going out in the sun more. Not full on 'sprawled out on the beach when the sun rays are killing, getting absolutely roasted' tanning, but just walking outside with less sunscreen on and stuff like that. And yeah, I became a fan of tanned skin for a while, mainly because the hair on my arms is literally black, and it doesn't show as much when my skin is darker. (I'm really lazy to actually do something to get rid of the hair, so they will be there forever. Its too much work.) And apparently, I looked "healthier". On the other hand with my pale skin, I felt like it gave great contrast with the black dramatic makeup I wear, the dark clothes and the blue/green hair I have. And also, you know, bad tan lines aren't a problem when you're pale and don't tan. So, thoughts?
