Because it's gross on women, as hard as may be to believe men and women are different both biologically and in what they find un/attractive
Prostitutes started the practice of shaving legs and underarms on women. However, the Romans removed pubic hair, arm hair. By the 16th century there were tales of who did and who didn't: prostitutes, some upper class people... and by the 20th century though legs were still unshaven on women, underarms commonly were. In Europe there are still unshaven armpits on women. In America, it's mostly a "hippie" chick thing. The current trend has been adopted from online pornography where women and often men are completely hairless. Though in neither case is that natural.
Never said it was natural, but there is a reason men wouldn't date a bearded lady
Only proves my point that women who wanted to be more attractive started shaving
Well, you are stating an interesting point. Women started shaving to look the LEAST like men (underarms, legs). But completely removing ALL hair from male AND female bodies is a different thing. Doesn't quite make sense to me.
It's more attractive, at least on women
Because we naturally have more hair anyway. I think you already know the answer to this.
What does that have to do with armpit hair? And you only have extra long hair on your upper torso and face, on other body parts women get visible hair too.
Right; I think it's clear that Western culture overall places high emphasis in terms of attractiveness on the secondary-sex characteristics that define the differences between the sexes, as long as it's not excessive: Tits for girls, a decent amount of musculature for guys, facial hair for guys, a lack of facial hair for girls, etc. You're asking specifically about armpit hair-- yes girls have some, but you have less of it. Therefore the aspect of just that, less, is emphasized as attractive, to which most people agree. Again I think this is something that you already know, and it simply aggravates you that it is that way. There are many other things that I feel that way about.
"Because you have been brainwashed from an early age to believe it is gross only on women?" No.
"It wasn't a trend for women to remove body hair for most of human history"-- which is meaningless, and inb4 you start talking about Medieval art or whatever-- "so yes, it is just your cultural background here" No.
I already stated i don't find long armpit hair hot on anyone. And armpit hair is not a sexual difference since both genders have enough of it. Facial hair would be one, but i don't like long beards either or anything that looks unkept or messy.
The actual difference is that I (and most women) don't become a bully when I see someone that doesn't match my preference, but a woman's body hair wouldn't go unmentioned in a negative way. See the problem?
And yes, it is your cultural background that influences your preference, if it wasn't like that humanity wouldn't have survived with men being grossed by women's natural bodies.
"don't become a bully when I see someone that doesn't match my preference" ... I don't think you spend enough time in enough corners of the Internet. You'll find there's no difference. And that if anything, on the BIG social media sites, where anonymity doesn't exist and therefore most people normally don't truly speak their minds, as in Facebook and Instagram and Twitter, what you are saying is the total opposite of what happens.
Enough between the two? Ehhh... guys still have more. And what about legs? You didn't mention those. Are you also annoyed that guys find it attractive (and other girls, by the way) that girls have smooth legs? And unattractive, when they don't?
I am talking about real life here and about what is more common. I didn't witness women body shaming men nearly as much as the opposite. Don't try to make it even because it is not.
Let me break this to you. A woman may. not get as long and thick hair as a man because she doesn't have enough testosterone, but she still has some and needs to have some, more than a child. A woman with a child hormones wouldn't even get aroused. So if men's preference is a woman who looks like she can't even get aroused what is actually wrong here? Your cultural upbringing, men's natural desire or women'a bodies? I am quite sure that if men only found that attractive for all human history women would have evolved to be hairless or humanity would have ceased to exist. So it i most likely the society you grew up in.
Uh... the thing about evolution is we don't choose it, like we're at a supermarket or something. Odd comment. As far as all the "child" stuff goes, even odder. I think you're making comparisons here erroneously since it's clear that you're annoyed at... well, lots of things, I suppose.
I think you are rather describing yourself
'Fraid not sis. Not as it pertains to any issue even barely resembling this one.
It's simply societal and sexual expectations.
Armpit hair serves a function.
You didn't answer the question
I think women just started shaving and men didn't and then it became the norm in society.
Armpit hair on women turns me on sexually.
I'm not a hypocrite.
That was an update, not a reply to. you
I know. I am undefeatable. Also hope you are still working out to get strong.
That first guy is definitely right handed. Lol
I'm so glad it is, I have plenty
Because there's no armpit weedwacker yet!!!
Maby being hairy is seen as masculine I don't know
Not where I live, shave ya gross fuckboy.
I dont except it that disgusting
i think body hair is associated with masculinity
It is, but that's incorrect. It means a person has reached or passed puberty. Greater amounts of body hair are typical to men. Ridding yourself of all body hair might be to choose to look like a landscape of skin uninterrupted by fuzz.. It might also be associated with looking prepubescent, childlike. There are all kinds of reasons.
A friend of mine is a redhead and he has very light body hair, hardly visible.
He mentioned growing up that his lack of visible leg hair made him feel like he wasn't a man.
@Boppy Isn't that sad though? And I had too much for a woman and I felt unwomanly... Just as sad. And ridiculous. To have people judge you for what you've been genetically given is crazy.
@Screenwriter I mean, it sucks, but I was mentioning it to agree with the post by Akshi.
I'm not saying it's a good or bad thing.
I think people care too much about others' appearances, tbh. I don't want to bang everyone I meet, so why should I care how sexy they look?
Men grow more hair
gender thing?
I'm not
I feel if guys want girls to shave or wax then guys should shave or wax arm pits chest an other areas Sept legs
