Up to a certain point it isn't. There are universally attractive features. Symmetry, height, complexion, that not a single person would go against saying is attractive. Beyond this however we all have subjective appreciations of what is beautiful in the different variations of attractiveness.

Somethings are more aesthetically appealing than others, and that applies to everyone. It's not subjective.
However, there are many times I am attracted to the one who isn't as aesthetically appealing than the next girl. Science does not determine who I am attracted to or who I want.

Because what most people find attractive are signs of a healthy human and they are built into the evolutionary pathways (and psychologies) of most humans. You can alter your perceptions with abstraction but at the very base beauty is very objectively definable for most of the population.
Modern society and media has brainwashed them to believe otherwise
Because simple minds can't comprehend complex ideas.
There is no influence when it comes to beauty you either see it or you don't.
