Do people really buy expensive brands like Saint Laurent?

Saint Laurent, Valentino, Gucci... have the money they tend to hire the best designers. So yes you will end up with better style usually. You will have better materials and better construction as well especially leather, silk and cashmere. My Valentino jackets are almost 20 years old and still look great. The cloths are superior. As for the 400 dollar scarf if you look at the screening of a cheaper scarf you will usually see maybe 8 screens or colors in the scarf. I have twelve Hermes scarves that sold for about 700 retail ( I bought them second hand for 3 to 45 dollars 🤭 ). They have to 27 to 40 individual screens cut to for each design which if you have ever done any silk screening that is mind blowing. Their silk is of the highest quality. And they are very selective about grading so if it has an error the scarf gets destroyed. A Hermes Scarf will last and stay nice for half a century easily. I can't afford these clothes retail but when I go to a second hand store and find a Chanel blouse or purse for less than 50 dollars I buy it if it is in good condition. Read about Hermes or Chanel or even SL scarves and you will appreciate what they are.
Adidas, Nike, Zara and H&M are really the only "economic" brands which top the fashion companies list.
The rest of the top 50 are pretty much all the expensive designer brands.
Although, YSL isn't near the top of the list, Louis Vuitton and Gucci are the best selling luxury fashion brands.
Well, some people want different looking stuff and higher quality, so they will buy it.
Brands like YSL do make good looking fashion, so even people like me (who aren't "money spilling" by any description) may have designer clothes (I personally own Armani, Dior, Versace, Bvlgari and YSL stuff).
But, yes, it's overpriced.
I think that the designer brands are worth about a quarter of what they actually cost, but sometimes it looks good and there is no alternative.
I mean, I'd rather have YSL Wyatt than some overpriced Air Jordan trainers, because at least YSL Wyatt look dope.

They are marketed to the top 1% -- the people making say $750K/year and up. If you make $750K then spending $400 is like someone making $75K spending $20.
I like cheap street fashion rather than expensive brand.
Nah. I prefer casual sportswear by Adidas and Nike or vnecks and crewnecks from Ralph Lauren Polo. Thats about it
Yeah people with money do... I have some nice stuff I got cheaply like ties
They do but it isn't worth it.
