Why isn’t it more acceptable for guys to wear tighter swim gear in public pools and beaches? This is more acceptable in some countries. In France for example there are some pools where spandex trunks are required and in Italy it is common to see men on the beach in tight spandex or speedos.
I’m not an exhibitionist either, most guys have this problem when they wear looser shorts where theirs parts rub a lot and as a result it’s very common for guys to get friction burn in their area. I get burns there almost every time I go to the beach without fail. It would be so much more comfortable if we could just wear tighter briefs at least instead. In fact, lots of guys already wear spandex underneath their swim trunks anyways and the ONLY reason they wear trunks underneath without shedding the top uncomfy loose layer is for public decency.
I also think that if worn right and if the guy is relatively fit spandex trunks can still look quite good and fashionable on men. (The guy in the light Blue is Daniel Craig from James Bond and in my opinion he makes them look fashionable and mature.)
What do you think girls, can men get away with this look? Can we learn to accept this style? How do you feel about it?

I’d probably just wear the shorts kind of tight trunks for comfort mainly. It’s nice that men are able to show their bodies in your country. What country are you from?
Oh nice, I actually studied abroad there and am trying to go to college in Germany now. Austria is a beautiful country. I really miss it. It was weird though I noticed when I went to a pool there most guys were still wearing board shorts. It was I’d say about 70% looser shorts and 30% spandex. Not complaining though at American pools it’s like 99% loose shorts. I’d definitely feel more comfortable wearing them there than in America.
I don’t know why but I do agree with you, they’re more comfortable. When I was in college for competitors and even training Speedo’s were required. I do feel uncomfortable when people stare too much, and not that I’m shy about my package, I’m very proud of my size but if there’s an old lady or kids it’s uncomfortable to have your package that exposed.
Suits shown, are not speedo's and the main reason most men do not wear brief swim wear, is because they look like the Pillsbury doughboy, or the Michelin man when wearing them. The men in the pictures do not portray the 'typical' American, male physique. I have a hard, flat stomach and do not sag anywhere, but still wear a conservative swimsuit. I don't want to see another male with his penis bulging in his swimsuit, as it looks like a homosexual trolling for another homosexual
It's fine where I live and I live in the United States. Specifically, in Southern California, along the coast. Often, fashion is just having the courage to wear something ridiculous. Go ahead and wear it. Be proud of how you look.
Because it's viewed as gay. Many men are homophobic and or don't want to give off the wrong vibe. Many also are no fit. We are taught to be modest here.

That’s true but if we are taught to he modest then why is it so acceptable for women to walk around in thong-type bikinis? I feel like just about every woman under the age of 40 I see where those types that basically reveal all the cheeks. Not that I care, just saying women wear very revealing stuff, are tighter boards shorts really all that bad?
I think its acceptable though I've only ever seen old guys wearing them and I dont wanna see that any more than I wanna see an old lady in a skimpy bikini

Yeah I understand that. It’s more so about being comfortable while swimming and comfortable with your body more than anything. Some women don’t look amazing in speedos but I have no problem with them wearing them in public.
I’ve noticed on here that everyone just about is worried about what others think. Some think your a homosexual “ grow up “ for god sake. Wear what you want by as long as your not letting everything hang outside the suit go for it. We are male and guess what our parts protrude out every male does so it’s not something new

They're out of style in the west. Guys here haven't even worn short shorts since the 80's. Even then my dad would wear briefs to the beach because he was well hung and I remember boys making fun of him. Guys here wear board shorts.
Ah well culturally Canada is pretty similar to the US with a few small exceptions. That depends on what you define as “west” if you go to Latin America and places like Brazil spandex is really common on beaches for men. If you go to Italy or Spain it’s the same story. It’s more so that it’s just not common in the US. My guess is that the whole California Surfer style influenced the whole boards shorts thing in the US.
well be the change you want to make. I never even considered it an issue and never thought twice about wearing one for swimming or beach. Its a proper piece of swimwear. WTF is the issue, and those pictures aren't even a swim breif style

See that logic doesn’t make any sense? I hate seeing older ladies in bikinis and fatter ladies, but guess what nobody ever shames them for wearing it. When women reveal their bodies everyone celebrates and says she’s so powerful but when I wanna wear a little spandex for comfort I’m in the wrong? Also you don’t know that there are a lot bi guys out there dude. Personally, I enjoy seeing it on good looking guys. Just because you don’t enjoy the male body doesn’t mean other people don’t.
Also I’ve met plenty of girls who said they’d enjoy seeing it including my girlfriend but that’s not the point. All I want is for us to be able to wear this attire for comfort o don’t get why everyone thinks it’s so awful.
You’re over complicating something that isn’t complex. Women have innies and men have outies. If you want to wear this and outline every detail of your penis, then go ahead. I’m not stopping you. Just don’t be surprised when people are put off by it. It’s also quite effeminate.

But that’s exactly my point I just want to wear it for comfort why can women wear such skimpy stuff but I can’t even wear tight gear for comfort? It’s not supposed to be for looks. It almost feels like Victorian England except the girls can show off as much skin as they want and everyone celebrates.
Nobody it’s just that it’s not the social norm and I just wish it was more acceptable like in some other countries. Guys don’t wear them cause they’re shy and embarrassed themselves nobody tells them not to. Just majority of men find it more comfortable to wear something else. It’s personal preference I don't know where you’re getting your false information from
I am aware that nobody is telling me not to. We just are embarrassed mainly because it’s not socially acceptable. It’s actually more comfortable to wear tighter stuff down there for most guys when swimming. We just don’t wear tighter stuff for decency and because we get made fun of by other men and girls as well for it. I’ve never worn them personally but I wish I could just not be judged for it is all I’m saying if I did. It’s more common in other countries for guys to wear that stuff. Ask a guy if swimming in soft spandex would be more comfortable. Chances are they will say yes. Most guys wear speedos or spandex under their gear anyways I’ve even talked to a surfer that wears a speedo under his board shorts because they are uncomfy and give him burns there when he doesn’t. Honestly we only wear them for public decency.
I mean the same could he said for unfit women in bikinis and leggings yet we are forced to see it all the time and if we say anything about it we are misogynist. I don’t honestly care about women wearing bikinis (even if sometimes it can be pretty gross on some women) but my point is if women can be comfortable while swimming and get to wear tight gear than guys should as well without facing backlash. We shouldn’t face backlash for wanting to be comfortable.
