They don't hurt much at all unless you're getting one done close to bone or really fleshy. The inside of your arm on the top hurts like crazy, close to the spine, ribs, and I've heard that the top of the foot really hurts, but don't have any tattoos on my feet.
What area are you thinking about getting tattooed, and color or B&W? Some color dyes can break down quickly, or break down into toxic components and there really isn't any regulation or norm on what dye is "right" for what color.00 Reply

I have my inner forearm, upper arm, shoulder and left pec tattooed. The only time it was painful was when it got near my nipple, armpit and collarbone. Those areas were sensitive af. My inner forearm did get really irritated and annoying to get inked after a few hours. Wasn't so much like owwww this hurts, more like a scraping feeling that annoyed me cause it was constant.

Alright dope. Yeah I might start the process of getting my sleeve this weekend
Depends on the placement. I got one on my side (breast area) and that wasn't pleasant. I hear if it's in a bony area it hurts more. That one was probably a 6. I've heard the ribs are an 8-10. Also straight lines are more irritating as well.

Well good thing the only bony part I’m gonna be inking up is my elbow 😂🤣

You’ll see it when I post it... might be getting it this weekend 😈
+1 yI heard it depends on the area and how sensitive your skin is. Some people feel like a needle pain. Bothersome but tolerable. Also they give you something to limit the pain before hand like numbing cream. Hope i helped

Yeah, I’ve heard of that too... but I don't know if that affects the art when it’s being applied

@iFarted google this buddy
There are a variety of topical pain relief options available that come in two forms; creams used prior to tattooing and solutions used once the skin is broken. Examples of tattoo numbing creams that we have known customers to use with very mixed results include Dr Numb, Emla and Ametop

It doesn’t affect the art Danny, because it gets absorbed by the skin without leaving residues
- +1 y
I heard the collar bone & nipple are the most painful
- +1 y
Any area with little fat in it will be the most affected. Where the skin is thin and many nerve endings

I’m excited. Been wanting to do this for years 😌

Good luck! 😊I love black tattoos on a guy. Not into very colorful tattoos Like red or so
- +1 y
It’s gonna be completely black ink. BUT, I might put a little bit of color on one spot... just haven’t thought of anything yet.
For the upper outer part of my sleeve I’m having my artist do an aztec warrior holding an American flag. With the skull of the warrior be a skull
And I might have him do the eye sockets of the skull to be glowing red. I think all that black ink with the red ink in that one spot will make it pop - +1 y
Just a little bit of color isn’t bad. Wow that tattoo design sounds bad-ass
- +1 y
All my tattoos are going to be meaningful and say something about me.
My first piece is going to be a realistic portrait of my golden retriever that passed away while I was deployed - +1 y
That aztec warrior one define who I am.
A Mexican American that serves in the military and is proud to be an American despite all odds - +1 y
I don't know what to put on the outside of my outer forearm tho... that’s the only part I haven’t thought of yet
- +1 y
You can added something like a dragon’s scales art. it can look really intriguing if its done nicely. Looks so powerful on a guys arm
- +1 y
Ehh... I would if I was Japanese decent. I feel like that is a privilege and if a guy like me put it on my skin I’m discrediting the Japanese culture. I was deployed overseas in Japan. They take stuff like that very seriously and some of the morons I was deployed with got Japanese inspired art on them... it made me so mad

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yAs mentioned, the most painful spots are those with the least fat, most nerve endings, and thinnest skin. But then again, everyone has got varrying pain tresholds. I've got a quote with peonies done on the side of my ribcage, the pain of having the flowers outlined didn't sink in until 10mins in, I'd say the pain was at like a 7. But once it came to shading, it was a breeze to me.
So what's the first ink going to be? You still planning on getting something to show your solidarity with your mum (hope she's been doing well by the way)? And I know you want something to memorate Simba. Whatever the first ink is, excited to hear you're following through with it.00 Reply

@beatcoock Thanks, but I’m not interested.

@beatcoock Yeah... I don’t really care even if you did. Long and short answer is just No.

This whole thread is wild
+1 yDepends on size and location on the body. Different areas will be more responsive to pain because of nerves or bones.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yDepends on where you are getting tattooed. I have 4 tatts, 3 didn't hurt much at all but one hurt really bad.
01 Reply- +1 y
The first piece to my sleeve is going to be in my upper inner forearm
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yDepends where it is to be honest. When I had mine on my wrist it just felt like a constant bee sting.
03 Reply- +1 y
True. Lol but to be fair, I once got stung by one in my ear. So I’m sure the experience I had with one was a little biased
Opinion Owner+1 yPain is subjective to be honest. I’ve worked in healthcare and seem some people wince at minimal things while others handle worse stuff better.

+1 yI hear that the ribs are one of the most painful places. Basically any places with bone right underneath hurt a lot.

I’m gonna begin the process of getting my sleeve. And the first piece of it is gonna be on the inside of my upper inner forearm
- +1 y
O that where i have my one in each arm and honestly one hurt way more then the other it really doesn’t hurt but it stings Like if you were drying on your arm with the pen but like harsh but once it’s over it doesn’t hurt sometimes They put a spray on to make it no hurt as much before they start But not all tattoo artist do it
- +1 y
Sounds good!! Yeah I’m keeping in touch with my artist 😂
- +1 y
Yeah and after you get one it kinda gets addicting you you just want more
- +1 y
Nah nah, I’ve heard this before. But I don’t wanna be completely inked up.
I only want a sleeve and nothing else. Personally I think that looks better to have all natural skin and then on one limb it’s completely covered. It sends a more powerful message. But that’s just my opinion - +1 y
Sound good and plus on men arm tattoo look pretty cool and more if its only on one arm 👌
- +1 y
Yeah 😅 besides I don’t really have that many ideas. Some of the guys I have served with in the military got stupid random tattoos just for the fuck of it. That’s not how I am. If I’m altering the appearance of my skin it needs to have meaning behind it
- +1 y
Omg that is something i allways tell people dont get a tattoo just to get it they have to have a meaning like representing your lives or some shit like that
- +1 y
Like one of my tattos Represents the time I almost died
- +1 y
Damn no way, what is it?
- +1 y
The Virgin Mary
- +1 y
It kinda a long story lol
- +1 y
That’s pretty cool
- +1 y
Yeah I really like it some people have told me thats for like cholos but they dont know why i got it
- +1 y
As a Hispanic man, I could see where you’re coming from. However I can also say that the Virgin Mary holds a very significant part in hispanic culture given that most Hispanic families are catholic

Yeah i think thats why i delive she was the one who saved me because on my believes and all
