Do you think my mom used to dress too revealing when younger?

She was 27 here, photo taken in 2005. Pretty old house though. And the photo was on paper instead of digital.

I'm 19 years old, my mom is 42, she was 23 when she had me. As far as I can remember, she's always had a very modest style of dress. Always fitted or baggy pants, never tight ones. All her dresses and skirts were maxis as well. Rarely even saw as much as her ankles.

When looking at old family photos together though, to my surprise she was wearing very short dresses. Apparently, she used to wear them regularly up till 29 years old, when I was around 6. I definitely didn't remember. I may have had super vague memories, but I thought they were dreams or something.

When I commented on it, she surprisingly didn't think they were too short at all. She said she only stopped wearing them because she felt they were a bit too childish for 29 and older.

Even when that in mind though, to me they just seem SHORT as hell. Kind of trippy seeing a younger version of my mom dressed like this.

I also think it's weird that you're so concerned about what your mom used to wear. Of course it would be men policing what women wear even if it's their mom.

I'm just kind of curious about people's opinions. And I'm not really "policing" anything, since she doesn't dress like this anymore.

If she did dress like this again, I'd think it's a little out of character because she quit this style years ago... but I'd just be like "whatever, you do you mom."

You can say that you'd react like that but based on this post, I'm not sure you would. You can have your own preferences as to what looks good but I think you should keep those preferences to yourself.

I mean I can have my own opinions of course, but of course I'd just be like "whatever" regardless of what my mom wears. She's my mother, not my girlfriend, and I also don't even live with her anymore, since I moved out recently.

Ah... well we all have different opinions on dress length I guess. Go you if you like short dresses, that's great! And yup, I don't think most people wanna see their moms in potentially sexualized clothing.

Also, a question, hopefully not too creepy... with dresses that short do you wear small spandex shorts underneath or just the underwear? An old girlfriend of mine only wore underwear, though hers were knee-length, not this short.

I’m exactly your mom’s age, so this could be me looking at an old picture of one of my friends (can’t believe 2005 was a long time ago now, holy fuck, feels like yesterday, lmao). That looks pretty standard to me. It looks like a dress she’d wear for a night out, that’s all. Honestly, the girls in my generation had more revealing clothes than that. The standard jeans for women (which I miss the hell out of seeing, haha, although it basically only looked good on fit women with flat stomachs) were “low-rise” and the waist on them sat very low, lower than you’d want to think about on your mom lmao, and they’d often wear crop-tops that just left a whole lot of skin out there in the breeze. And I loved every second of it, lmao, that was the prime of my life in terms of pulling women, so I was a kid in a candy store😂 But yeah, if I went to a party in the 2000s, most of the girls would look like this...
