But the thing is what made you get pierced? You inspired by whom? What was the idea behind it? These are some things I wanted ask!
Well, first of all I should clarify that I do not have a pierced tongue, but I do have/have had piercings.
And I should mention first that I've always liked blades since I was a toddler, I've been fascinated by them in many ways, that I won't explain today. I was never afraid of needles either, they were also an interesting sensation. The human skin is also quite interesting on its own, and how the first layers are very easy and quick to heal, so, as a kid I always like to play with spines and thorns, as well as sharp broken pieces of river rocks. All of this happened since I was a kid, I was not inspired, I got no ideas from anyone or anything, it was my own fascination with the world and this stuff in particular.
I got older, an older kid and going into teens, and I sort of forgot about all this, or I got busier with other stuff and interests, but at the same time I learned more about the world and other cultures, seeing where all kinds of "body modifications" came from and what they got to be in recent years, made me realize that I would just have them one day, I like the idea, I liked the sensations, I liked how they look yes, so I guess this when you could say I got the inspiration of the idea of having piercings, but it sure wasn't someone in particular, I did not copy someone.
Actually, the body modifications I like the most on certain people are ones that I never got for myself or not yet, and some, I am sure I never would do it myself. What I've done for me was just for me, I don't think if others will like it or dislike it, or think more or less about me, and I am quite sure I would not do something just because if seems attractive to others, or because someone would want to see it on me.
Between age 15 and 18, the high-school years, that's when I started to consider the idea of getting pierced but it was against the rules at school and was also against my parents ideas, lol, nevertheless, I had told my parents when I was age 14, that I would do it one day so they were "warned" years in advance, so, here we are today, many years and a few piercings later.
Here's another thing... I've had been pierced six, nine, and up to 14 times in total on my forearm at once, and in other places as well. But I have not kept the pieces in my body. This was done for my own gratification and experience as well, as it was practice for a very close friend of mine, she's dedicated to this and also tattoos. So in a way yes, I enjoy much more the idea and sensations of piercings, much more than making "an attractive look" out of them and for people to see me like that, is certainly not a trend or a "fashon statement" for me either, although I know they don't look bad on me and I sure like they way they look. Tricky stuff.

I've no idea why people do this, but I'm willing to bet that no one told them that the hole will be there for life as it will not heal up like a pierced ear and that food will be likely to get lodged in the hole if they remove the tongue stud for any length of time.
