If I am sat at home though I tend to always keep it on rather than turn up the heating as it just costs more money

I keep mine on inside when necessary. I'm rarely at other people's houses but I'm not offended if guests leave their coat on. I'd rather they be comfortable. I live in the Northeast and it's 5°F right now with a -7°F wind chill. Warmth matters!
I am a naturally cold person and warmth definetly matters for me all the time
I actually never realized that some people consider it rude lol. I don't want someone shivering in my house when they have a coat with them
I am the exact same lol, would never consider it rude if someone kept theirs on visiting me
I will 100% keep my coat on if it’s cold inside a building, whether it’s someone’s house or not.
I never have guests so can’t speak on how I’d feel if someone did that in my home.
I am naturally a cold person at the best of times

I've kept my coat on indoors but I lowered my hood. Unfortunately, it gave someone the impression I hinted to have the heater turned up. She later started complaining that her gas & electricity bills might go up. Besides apologizing for the impression I gave her, I told her I didn't mind keeping my coat on and than she can return the heater's setting back to how she normally sets it. Despite all that, she managed to squeak in a few subtle rants throughout the night. I felt awkward all night long. Thank goodness I never have any reason to see that woman again. Yet, she was weird enough to send me a friend request on Facebook which, of course, I deleted.
Would never keep my hood up of course in someones house, though I dont see an issue with keeping a coat on either like you say , would prefer to do that than have someone spend money on heating
That would certainly have made you feel awkward, quite right to delete the FB request as well
Another guest, my friend who is also a friend of the host, in that house that evening also felt cold in that house. She revealed to me the next morning that our host actually never raised the heater setting at all. My friend got a cold because she didn't put her coat back on just to avoid giving a "controversial" impression to that host.
Aw that is not nice at all, shame on the host for what happened
If it's cold inside, it's jacket or blanket that you will have to use. I don't think it's rude, if the house has bad isolation or isn't heated properly you have to treat it as you do the outdoors.
This is my thoughts too
Tbh it’s got to be really cold before I wear a jacket.
i don’t think I know anyone that’s wore a jacket inside.
The central heating is on 19c (66f) pretty much all winter, in spring I turn it down to 16c so it does not come on.
i would be confused why some one would wear a jacket in doors
Do they sell coats up north?
@purplepoppy I don’t think so.
I was out today and not sure I saw anyone in a coat.
I've kept my coat on when inside a public building but I wear very nice dressy vintage ones that are part of the entire look. I wouldn't do it in someone's house. It's incredibly rude in my culture to leave your jacket on in someone's house. It sends a message that you're not going to stay very long. You'll get the phrase "are ya comin' or goin', me dear?" if you keep your jacket on.
Ones clothing comfort should not be considered rude or innapropiate.. the more clothing the merrier... unless you think less clothing is better indoors?
I tend to bundle up as much as possible when cold
If there is really any kind of heat inside the building and I'm not planning on going outside soon, I will shed at least one layer.
I don't really care what other people do.
Sometimes, it's cold in the house and the best way to stay warm is to wear a coat. If a guest/visitor does that because they're cold, that's fine... while I turn up the heat.
I'm always cold in the winter 😩 I've had 2 sweatshirts on before.
Always cold also, better to stay warm
I have before if I was cold. I don’t find it offensive if anyone keeps there’s on
Exactly the same as me
No it's rude because if it's wet you spread it everywhere.
Try not to, when in other peoples houses incase it comes across as rude but when I am in my own house I will always do if cold
When I’m cold yes. No I wouldn’t think it’s rude
My thoughts too yes
Not in person no, was more just curious
be comfortable, don't worry about it...
Yes I always try to stay comfortable
I do sometimes! :)
but usually no
