Is it True that Some People Insist that Upon Entering a House One Must Remove One's Shoes?

Cringeworthy movie, but the point is that usually, in countries where people don't wear shoes inside their homes, there is some traditional form of slippers or indoor shoes that they wear instead.
I have a pair of traditional Swedish leather-soled sheepskin boots, made for me by my Swedish ex's mother (Sweden being one of those countries where people don't wear shoes indoors) - they're super comfy.

Yes, I've been in one or two pf those houses. Strange that, at that time, my shoes always smelled badly so, I guess they preferred my feet stinking up their rugs than getting no dirt at all on them from my shoes.
In some instances, it's a cultural belief. But most of the time it's a respect thing. You can track in mud or dirt, you can scuff certain floors, you can flatten some styles of carpet especially with the rubber of the underside of a shoe. In any case though, it's just a small request. If it's that much of an inconvenience, that's fine as well, go ahead and leave your shoes on but don't cross the threshold.
Everyone takes their shoes off. They either wear their socks or house shoes. Never barefoot.
Keeps my floors cleans.

Removing shoe is the tradition in some cultures. There are other people who don't want shoes tracking dirt and germs onto the carpet. I'm not one of those people. I don't insist that people remove their shoes. My wife and I wear shoes inside the house all the time.
No one says you have to be barefoot. You can be in socks. I don't want your dirty shoes on my floor and furniture. Plus it seems uncomfortable.
This seems to only be an issue with American people. Everywhere else in the world, people remove their shoes.
You guys are basically a more radical version of us 😂
You're right, you're far worse. Denying reentry to your own citizens. Not allowing your people to venture more than 5 miles from their house. Beating people on the streets for not wearing masks. Harassing Avi Yemeni.
You're right, you're not like us at all.
Still executing people, thinking that having your own personal arsenal is a "right", thinking you're "indispensable" and can do whatever the hell you want without regard for international law, allowing the NSA to spy on your own countrymen and no one seems to care - we're nothing like you, and for that I'm thankful.
There are some households where it is expected that visitors remove their shoes when they enter the house. Probably to keep the house cleaner and not get dirt on the carpet (if there is carpet)? It is a bit much to expect a visitor to do, in my opinion.
That photo that you posted... There is a shoe repair shop in the city where I live that looks like that! LOL...
Yes. Most houses I've visited, including my own, don't allow shoe wearing in the house. Door mats help a little but you still bring in a lot of dirt and I live in the Northern US where we get a lot of snow so even if you knock the snow off, the shoes will still be wet
It is pretty common actually, most people I've known over the years has a policy of taking shoes off (but obviously keeping socks on). It keeps floors clean and some shoes like heels can damage floors
Yess I don't allow anyone to wear shoes in my house since my kids are always rolling around on the floor
Not everyone wants dirt, snow or mud being tracked inside.
Doormats only do so much.
yes i have a military grade foot fetish and i DEMAND to see everyone's feet when they enter my home.
shoe's are the devil's facemasks trying to cover our natural beauty!
I've only encountered that once in my life. It was a German woman. Nazis are very authoritarian.
The idea is to keep the floors clean. Therefore, it's a non-issue, because you won't be stepping in anything gross anyway.
That’s always been normal here. If someone wants to clean my floors they can wear whatever they want, otherwise take your shoes off
Different countries and different cultures. We don't wear shoes inside.
Yes but sometimes removing shoes can cause worst problems
take off shoes and wear shower shoes inside not that uncommon happens a lot in Asian family's house holds
Yes of you come to my house you have to take them off
We wear shoes in my house. If you have mud then you take it off. Common sense?
I can only imagine the shit on the bottom of shoes. So I get it.
that's why you wear socks and slippers inside the house
Most of my friends want me to remove my shoes in their home. It's not a big deal
and why not unless you bring overslippers?
Some ask to remove.
My feet are fine
yeah
I wear socks
Yes.
