It can, but they're mostly worn for comfort, when wearing woolen, scratchy clothing or to prevent see-thru, when wearing light colored or sheer clothing. I like slips, if it's not too hot. They feel nice under dresses and skirts.

Probably, that would make sense. But I don't know for sure I've never worn a slip.
