WWhy are people these days afraid to wear layers?

I remembered back when I was very young I known many friends who wear layers. I am wearing layers now in 21 degree weather and I dont feel warm at all.

I feel cooler than ever! I am wearing tweed waistcoat, a necktie + starched wingtip collar, wool / mohair morning coat and heavy wool trousers

Your style seem similar to mine. I layer with waistcoats, cardigans, and starched collars. However, I prefer my linen suits for the summer. I wear my wool sports coats in the fall. Long overcoats in the winter.

People don't realize that you don't need to be half naked in order to stay cool. Girls, especially, give the excuse that they're hot so they strip down to barely anything. Natural fabrics like linen, though, will keep you cool. Throughout history linen was a summer fabric.
