Please don't listen and keep those opinions in your heart. I'm sure you're a nice and pretty person! In my opinion, I don't believe it is racism as racism is treating another human being completely different because of their race. Some people just have different perspectives on beauty, but that doesn't make you not beautiful. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, and personality is more important than looks. They shouldn't have said that you look ugly, since that is rude, judgmental, and disrespectful. I hope they learn not to do that to future people, and I wish you a great week. :)
Comments on one's appearance is not automatically racism. If it was prefaced as a blanket statement or generalization charged with stereotyping then yes, it could be seen as such.
If however you asked me about the appearance of other women across the board regardless of race, if I found them unattractive or ugly, I would say so.
Well, I am not attracted to Asian women personally (except for some Japanese women.)
But I would never say something like that; I think it's rude.
