Why do cheerleaders wear pleated skirts, when we already pretty much know they're wearing athletic shorts under neath it?

and pleated skirt look amazing, its pleats attract many peoples eyes.. and give it a sporty feeling..

Cheerleaders aren't what they were. Used to be cheerleaders had to be hot and not be fat.
