In my opinion it's a negative colour that signifies evil and death. White contains all the colours of the spectrum, but black is a complete absence of all colour and light. And yes, I know that the woman in the photo actually looks good wearing it, but she's a model.
You didn’t explain that entirely accurately. Black isn’t the absence of color. Black absorbs all colors of light in the human visual spectrum, generally. “Absolute black” was only recently developed, so our understanding has long been relative and academic. Similarly, white isn’t all of the colors. White reflects all colors of light in the human visual spectrum. However, if we modify the wavelength of light, like through infrared imaging, all of the colors appear very differently, including black and white.
It can be said quite factually that the absence of color is the absence of light, and vice versa.
I recommend you read up on how various colors are conceptualized in different cultures though. Black = bad, or evil, is a very western concept. There has also been a fair bit of research on the psychological effects of colors on people and animals. It might alter your consideration of black. Then again, maybe not. Ell oh ell!
Personally, i like black. It’s harder to stain and i like messy foods!

I confess I like wearing black and also purple.
i also like it on girls as well, However I also like variation as well.
i am not particularly colourist with clothing, I have salmon coloured shirts and tops.
It’s some of the other colours or shades I’m not a fan off, even though I have a fucking burn your eyes out bright green gym top on at moment lol.
Black is just black. What it means depends on the people’s perception. To me it’s just black. I like black for so many reasons.
- It’s neutral
- It goes with everything ( all colors)
- It tends to hide some imperfections like don’t emphasize wideness
- It’s easy to style
- It’s convenient to put on when you have no time without worrying if it matches with what
- It makes the other colors pop
- Monochromatic black makes a look more put together instantly without even thinking it
- and so many other reasons
Lol I understand how you see it that way but it's all about the mindset.
For me I see it as the darkness of night that represents peace and rest. For me black represents being reserved and down to earth so that's why I love it. If fit's my personality pretty well.

Let me just say I mostly wear black, and no, I don't get offended by your post.
I just want to say why. I wear black, not because I am a goth or an evil mastermind or the devil or because it is slimming.
I wear black because it hides sweat. I live in a hot country. I do not have a car. I have to commute. In my younger years, I wore brown, white, red, blue, white again, and again - and everytime I get to school - my back and chest looks wet as fck. Thank you anti-perspirants for not making my underarms drenched in sweat.
Gave me social anxiety.

The only colours I wear are black, grey and blue. Mostly black. It’s just a comforting colour to me, and you can argue that it’s not a colour and it’s a shade blah blah blah, but I consider it a colour. I don’t like bright colours other than blue, and black brings me comfort.
Yes, me. I can wear most colors except for black. It looks good and elegant on some people, but makes me look like an old widow and washes me out. That's why I never wear any black dresses, tops, or jackets, only shoes and sweatpants (except for a classic black leather jacket that I own, but again I wouldn't wear an all black outfit, like the girl on the pic
I like it. I wear it all the time. I wore it back before they started with all the emo/goth stuff. It has nothing to do with anything like that for me.
I don’t know about that. Like a lot of times when goes where all black it is intended to be more of an emo look so that can get uncomfortable but it has been adopted as more of a classy or business look. And I find that SUPER hot!
No to all counts, and I would also like to add that in different cultures that colour would be different.
For example: the colour associated with death (and sometimes evil) in Japan is White, not Black. 🤷🏻♂️
I totally agree. When I wear black, I tend to be a bit grumpier and honestly I think I'm harder to be around. I started wearing a lot more whites and pinks and lighter colors and with darker jeans and I feel a lot more comfortable and happy.
I sued to like black with my red hair however because I'm so pail and blonded I learned blues look better with my eyes and fair skin and pinks.
I like the color black, but it's usually too dang hot to wear it
Oh my goth, black is awesome! I personally love any colour You like. Black ain’t a chromatic colour (it’s not a hue), but it’s a colour nevertheless.

I am the worst... which is why I always wear black, suits me well...
I love black I wear black glasses with black dresses and a black lace choker everytime I go out! Black makes me feel strong and sexy. But during the day I wear sundresses that are colorful?
I personally find black sexy on women and a cool color in general.
She’s buff ugly actually but the clothes are okay…. The same textured and glossed outfit in hot pink or mustang red would be nice.
Lol isn't the girl in your display picture wearing a black top?
Mostly people who are insecure about their weight (even if they aren't overweight) wear it to look smaller
Well I'm such a freak who doesn't like to wear black coloured clothes ;0) I like real not too bright colours.
I'm not a fan of black either I sometime wear it but always we others colored stuff but I prefer blue
I'm sure there are, but I love black.
It's a beautiful colour to me.often helps to have a pop of at least one other color mixed in. rather then wearing just one solid color by itself.
